As there's talk of an AU3 to be released late this year to couteract the release of the VX2, lets have some thoughts as to what could be offered/improved.

We know that the 220kw engine is finding its way into the XR8, what else???

I reckon drop the XR6 HP and just have the VCT for the HP price. Watch them fly out the door then. 220 for the XR8 is as good as done... 'bout time too...
Manual option for the Forte and Futura would be handy.
They could lower the ride height on the base cars by an inch or so to help with the styling issues and maybe some minor interior changes like different fabrics and such.
One idea I would like to see across the board would be to have a full options list. If you want XR leather in your Forte, why not. If you want the VCT motor and gearbox in your Futura, why not. XR suspension, no problem Sir...
I think as long as people are prepared to pay for their options and wait for their cars to be built whats the problem? If people option their cars a bit much, they start looking at stock XR's, you'd think they'd more than likely jump at the XR. Instant cash in Ford's pocket...

Yes and how about an optional supercharger too.Not so much for top end but more for higher torque from low rpm right through. Then some optional pulleys???:wink2: :wink2: :wink2:

Yeap AU3 line up sounds good to me, if the XR8 makes 220kw then base V8 should be 200Kw up from 175kw. And i'd like ford to say yes sir to a Falcon Forte with a Synergy 200kw + 5 speed manual, that would be my ultimate sleeper mobile. :D :D :D :D :D

Oooh yeah, the repmobile from hell!!

Did anyone say "axletramp"!!?!?? :wink2:

Hmm, it's a tricky one though, getting the "AU3" lineup right. Dropping the HP will mean they'll have to almost give the last of them away, which will not make money. IRS across the board would be nice, but I don't think it'll be a reality for AU3. Not sure if they'll go for the standard 8 getting 200kW, I don't think they'd sell enough to justify it, sadly. Manual options would be fantastic, and I think Uncle Geoff had something to say about that too, but not sure it'll make it to AU3.

Gotta agree with ya Ford Man 100%, make it like the old days where you could get your stock XY Falcon with various GT options here and there. A genuine free for all, just build your own car to your own specs. If you want a sleeper, you should be able to get one from the factory. If you want an XR6 with touches of Ghia, why not! If you want your Forte with XR brakes & suspension, why not! If you want a V8 wagon with leather and Tickford suspension, why the hell not! Intelligent pricing of these options would eliminate any negative kickback from the more pricey models which get these options as standard, eg. a Forte optioned up to XR8 level would be priced so as not to completely undermine the XR8's value.

XR8 changes (on top of at least 220kW):

1. Make the options available in packs like Holden to reduce cost. At the moment you can easily option an XR8 beyond the price of a TE50.
As an idea, why not have an XR8-R which has upgrades standard (similar idea to R8 Clubby) such as Momo wheel, Momo shifter, premium sound, brake upgrade, traction control, bodykit, and FTE Azzuro wheels (or other 18 inch jobbies)

(DAMN - sign me up now!!!! ) :wink2:

Other ideas in lieu of the XR8-R:

2. Bring on those sexy Brembo brakes from the 300+ as an option and make the current FTE brakes standard
3. If you want to match an SS, make the body kit standard (delete for cop cars)
4. Make traction control available across the range like Holden
5. Paint the friggin engine bay when you paint the car!

On top of this bring out a Ford Credit Card similar to the GM/Holden card so we can earn $3k off a car
 :D ;)

I gotta say I like all suggestions. One thing I would like to see but won't happen, is that the XR8 get a detuned stroker to 220kw (but then why not surpass the output of the SS?). It would then benefit from the extra torque, and there would be easy HP gains if you wanted to fiddle, much like what people do with execs and SS's easily taking them upto the HSV level.

Yeah - I'm beginning to wonder whether 220 is enough seeing what the LS1 boys are up to

I'mmm Baacccckkk!!!!

Jem - where did you here this talk of an AU111 being released this year?

I have always said back over on BON that there might be an AU111 since the gap between the AU11 launch date and surposed launch date of the 2002 AV/AX was way too long in my opinion.

As for specs I think there will be engine changes regarding the XR8 inheriting the FTE TE50 220Kw sinergy V8.
Safety will probably get an upgrade too with dual stage frontal airbags and side airbags.
Styling wise is a bit of a guess though - the change could be is big as the EF11 changing into the EL , with revised bumpers and grill or be as subtle with paint/colour scheme changes just like the AU11 FTE TE50.

If there's going to be any exterior styling changes you'd think they'd along the line of the AUII TE. I can't see any majoe changes this close to new sheetmetal. The cost would be way too high.

I don't know if anyone has said this yet but surely you should be able to upgrade your XR8 to the Stroker motor if you want, it doesn't have to be exactly the same output as the T series but atleast make it an option.
I read somewhere that the IRS was going to be fitted to everything except Forte when the AV comes out, I guess their waiting until they have a lighter version.

Also the EF suspension setup was not the best and it was changed when the EL came about, my brother says that the standard EL suspension was basically the EF XR setup. Is this right or is he just crapping on.

Hmm, I haven't heard that one. I doubt it though, since AFAIK the ride height on the EL was the same as on the EF, and the EF XR suspension was definitely lower.

I really think that traction control needs to become standard in XRs {without a huge price rise like usuall thanks!!} and Fairmont and optional on Forte and Futura. After seen some TE times lately i think the 220 5.0 will equal an SS when in a lighter XR8 although a detuned stroker would be better. I think there is the room for some much better wheel desighns particually on the T Series. Id like too see the Ts get much more agessive looks and most of all have them arrive with the rest of the range and not 6 months later. Something needs to be done with the VCT XR6. More power? What Ford Man said? i dont know but something.

I think it's too confusing having two XR6's. Why bother? The HP has had the same kw's since '94 which is 7 years or so... Time for an upgrade me thinks which is where the VCT steps in. Just kill the HP (or put the motor into the Forte/Futura) and keep the VCT as the XR6...

Just a thought...

I have actually already ask the man himself about stroker kits for XR8s. I will ask his permission to print his reply

If there ever is an AU3 then the XR's IMO have a new colour!!!

I would like to see the Gold of the Xplode XR8 as on option, also them bonnet vent should be standard and the wheels should be an option!
Make the bodykits and bonnet wents standard on the XR8! That Xplode XR8 looks HOT!!

I recon the wheel on the Xplode look a lot better then the new TE50 rims!! What do u guys think of this??

The HP XR6 should be droped and the HP engine should be standard in all Falcons appart from the base utes! :wink2: :wink2:

Yes those rims on Xplod are Herrod Khan RSR wheels. Same as on Laminges car and yes i think they look real good. If it wasn't for wheel lock nuts I would have my set right about now:cool:
