AU III

There has been talk of an AUIII, i havent heard of this before, I guess most people are talking about an AV, and are ignoring the AU Series.

What is the AUIII and when is it coming out ??

That is speculation as far as I know.
The topic has been raised before on these forums and I doubt that it'll happen.
Geoff care to confirm??!!;) ;)

I thought Ford confirmed in the press that No AU3 to happen because budget was being put towards AV development.

I was of the same opinion! I think Geoff has even put the AU 3 rumour to rest himself.

As far as Au goes we have T sereis upgrade to look forward to and the possibility of a GT and or a more powerful XR8

I actually think that it is better that Ford are putting their $$ into the AV instead of an update that would be nearly the same as AU11. As well as the cars mentioned by HSE2 i hope we can atleast see some 220kw Fairlane Concorde 8s and 200 Fairmont Ghias and 220kw pursuit utes.

on a different note im still waiting to see what time the XR6 ute with VCT can manage with its little bit less weight over the sedan.

ATTENTION UNCLE GEOFF

Uncle Geoff, can you confirm if there will be/wont be an AU III?

P.S. Please make sure the engineers adress the clunking suspension all-round on the AU/AUII's for the AV... :)
Oh, and those noisy door seals (I fixed mine myself)
Ummm.. thats all. thanks :)

Hey who said you need money to make a new series look at the VX and VXII commodores!! The VXII has a total of $16 spent on it, and that includes a big step in suspension and a new cruise control controller thingy and a bunch of wild new colours.

Sure ford could make a AU III with out spending much at all (in R&D anyway) to help move the last of the AU's before the all desireable AV lands..

Phidos low cost AU III plan:
-Put a/the VCT engine into the live axel XR6 or SR (limited edition?)
-200 Kw V8 in all V8 options?
-Fog/driving lights standard on the entire range
-Series III badges
-One or Two new colours
-White or Colour coded dials (steal them from the t-series, the AV t series is getting a 250/260Kmph speedo right?)
-Clear indicators at the front
-Shift light on the SR, XR6, XR8 and all manuel Falcons.
-Change the the font on Fairmont or Fairlane or SR
-a new wheel cover for steelys
-some steel mesh or added chrome strips
-minor niggles fixed like door seals some cable ties and spacers to stop rattles

There you have it, AU III. Almost zero in cost. Perhaps I have over done it with the upgrades in the potential AU III, clear indicators, series III badges, cable ties and badge font change may be enough.

Even better dealers could upgrade there entire stock to AUIII spec with a single sealed plastic bag containing, clear indicators, colour globes, series III badges, 8 cable ties, wheel covers, series III book and special series III carmats.

Ford should have really just called the AU's after the 220Kw XR8 AUIII for marketing purposes, added to the rest of the range is the forementioned AUIII dealer pack..

Thats what Holden does, sure its a sad upgrade, a upgrade none the less. People are always looking for value, even if its not real.

Ford doesn't have to spend money developing it at all, here at Phido Technica Engineering (PTE) have diligently engineered it inhouse.

Oh yeh, rename FTE to FTX, to get the full xperience, those who need power don't have time to read redundant first letters.

If AUiii goes ahead, I think Ford should do a Holden and change the wheel covers, and use clear side indicators, and maybe 1 or 2 new colours possibly ones that will be used on AV.

By having an AUiii it may be percieved as being "newer" than if left as AUII till AV.

Im being conservative.

I could have said introduce the parts from the AV that are already working into some models, but then that might take away from the AV experience.

I could have said do it at the T-series stroker launch. However best not to tie up too many things to one date I guess.

Ford certainly to many seems to be behind the 8 ball, Holden now has its VX and VX II which are all pretty good Holdens, and the tail/head light treatment of the VX does make them look diffrent. AUII looks a hell of alot like some AUI's, and some of the AUI in many peoples mind looked pretty gawd dam sad.

But I don't run ford, Jeff does, so Jeff would have the final call in these matters

:p
