Afternoon folks:

Great big Hey from Powder Springs Ga.

As you can see by the sig, we dabble in FMC products, some fast, some not. Also have 2 Chebbies, both 1969 models a panel and an ex troopers 427 Bel Air.

(BLATANT COMMERCIAL TO FOLLOW)

If ever in the Atlanta area, I own probably the worlds largest hobby retail store, HobbyTown USA in Kennesaw just 3 minutes off I-75. If you are into modelling your cars or collecting die cast models of them we might could help you out. Otherwise come on down and we'll just talk cars/trucks.

This is my first day on this board and I am highly impressed and looking forward to sharing knowledge/needs and war stories. It is especially nice to have all the FMC products represented on one board. Saves me a lot of surfing between specific make/model boards.

Happy to be here

Morning Don:

Sort of depends on the level of fun/speed you want.

We have an indoor carpet track at my HobbyTown USA store and the really hot cars are Associated TC's and Trinity Switchblades. But, they are expensive to set up properly.

In my store, the most popular electric Touring cars are from HPI for "average" use. They come fully assembled and can be easily hopped up if you wish.

Other alternatives are Traxxas and Tamiya, but both require serious tweaking to be very fast.

Anything else I can help with, let me know.

Diecast

Hi Bill,
Just wondering how much involvement you have in the diecast arena. I have been looking for a 1:18 or maybe 1:24 scale that closely resembles my truck(see sig). I have found some by Welly and Urtl, I think???? and even some on Ebay but none in the color white. Any recommendations? We don't get down your way much but if we're ever in the area RV'ing we'll certainly stop by.

Casper II

Will look into it. Trying to get both a Supercab and a 4x4 variant will be a little more difficult but maybe there is one out there. If I find one, I have a guy that repaints and decals Police/Sherrif die casts and does a great job. I'm sure he could do a repaint if we could find the right model.

Glad you know of us. Who's the guy??

Stacey: You're gonna love this!!

Frank has worked for us for about a year now. As you know, he is a bit of a personality. and we tend to carry on quite a bit.

My favorite subject is to rag him after a date or trip with your sister. Now, I have never met the lady and have only spoken on the phone with her a few times when she has called for Frank. You know, "Is Frank too busy to talk?" and of course I say, "Hell no, he's just chatting up a couple of honeys, laziest SOB I have ever had working for me". Always good for a laugh.

Anyway, your sister is known to me as "Wild Thang" as Frank has never told me her real name, and I know when they have been on a date because Frank always looks like something the cat dragged in. Glassy eyed, dog tired, well you know.

As a joke, I am 61 and happily married for 40 years, I am always asking him if Wild Thang has a sister I could meet.

When I read your message at about 2 AM, I thought, I got him, I found the sister myself. And, I had a marvelous story concocted to tell him this morning.

Wanting to get more info on you, I pulled up your profile and "Bingo" first thing that caught my eye was in the interests section. "Girls". OH sh** thinks me!! Wonder if Franko knows.

Luckily, I went back to the first page of the Introduce Yourself section and found your post where you indicated you were a guy. Whew!!!

Still, it will be a marvelous few minutes this morning when I tell him this little tale. Maybe now I will finally meet Wild Thang in person.

Stacy:

Sorry, man, didn't mean to cause you so much ragging from your friends, but it has kept things lively.

Boss429:

Tamiya Lightnings come in two flavors.

You can buy the basic kit, unassembled, with complete chassis, motor, speed control and unpainted body for under $100 from any decent hobby shop or for about $80 from WWW.Towerhobbies.com

You can also now buy a completely assembled and painted version with radio for between $200 and $240 which is my store price, It's a good deal, but they sort of screwed it up by putting some really ugly Lightning flash decals on the doors. You can remove them though.

Either kit is upgradable in the sense of motors, speed control, better radio, better shocks, bearings and on and on. My personal RC Lightning has all of the above and is a real rocket. The stock ones are a bit slow but very reliable.

Hope that helps.
