Hi all, well today coming home from work i was listening to CD's as per normal but when i went to change the CD..... its stuck big time. Wont come out at all. I havent tried to poke or prod obviously but to say the least i am pi$$ed off in a big way.

The CD in question is a Sony CD-R of which my Ute has played many with no problems.... hell its even played this one fine many times.

Anyone had this happen? And does it look like a trip to ford? Oh and i got the ute brand new 3 months ago with single CD player.

This sort of thing shit$ me to tears, it really does.

cheers,
Matt

Rod, thanks for the quick reply mate, not what i wanted to hear but thems the breaks i guess. Cheers.

Just a couple more Q's Rod and others if you dont mind.

Is my ute driveable while this gets fixed and any idea on how long it takes them to have the unit ready to put back in?

Bastards should give me the premium as replacement

Dammit this sux. 2 things gone wrong this week (not both ute), and i always get bad things in 3 servings.... :( Thanks in advance for any more info anyone has.

cheers,
Matt

Yes you can drive without, no reason I can possibly think of that would stop you, get a personal MP3 to listen to while you wait, then new iPod looks very good :0)

Ok, just got off the phone from the service guy where i bought the ute.

He said that because it was a "sony" disk in the player and not a "proper" one that any and all cost of repair is on me and not ford.

This is bull$hit guys/girls or does it say somewhere that these cant be used? I read the manual again and the warranty and this is not mentioned anywhere at all.

The CD's in question have played hundreds of times in the ute and this one too, as they have in every single other car we have plus mates cars and etc etc

He didnt ask any details about me or my rego but its going to be obvious when i go in..... should i get narky about it and expect something to be done or will i wear this? God forbid if i asked them to fix all the trim screwups and other things i have noticed since sitting in other XR's.... this sux, i really thought there would be a bit more concern from them but nope.... nothing.

cheers,
Matt

Jason, cheers mate - i was under the assumption that the CD player was linked to all the security crap and couldnt be removed blah blah blah...

Does the CD-player say that it plays CD-R/RW etc, if so then chuck a tantrum about it.

The only security involved, would possibly be a radio security code after power is disconnected for a period of time.

The answer that the Service department was BS!!! I would make it known that you wanted it fixed under warrenty and if the answer is ANYTHING other than YES SIR> I would ask to speak to the reagional service rep! Hell,, if nothing else get another opinion from another dealer!!
Sounds like they are a bunch sorry A$$E$ who hate their jobs!!!
Man,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I would be on the war path!!!

My 2 cents!

Ask for the service manage @ the dealer ship & if he tells you the same story Ask him who makes "PROPER" c.d.

SONY dats WHO

if you have any problems contact FORD CRC ( customer relations centre )
they are very good & will help you with this delima

maybee you would like to name the dealer & the person that you spoke with but you had better check to see if that is allowed on here

i for one would not stand for it i would demand that it was repaired under warranty & if i had to i would make it well known that i was not happy

it does not state in the manual that they do or dont play CD-R so one would presume that it is OK to play them in there as you would only be playing a back up of your original copy or songs that you have downloaded from the new telstra music thing

Yep a dealer fob-off! Stand your ground the CD cannot be expected to play all CD-R but it should simply reject any it does not recognise. Warrantee claim clear and simple.

Thankyou so much guys, i really do feel better now (about my thoughts on standing my ground).

It is bloody embaressing explaining to mates/work mates (SS ute lovers) why i would "only like to listen to radio today".
I saw them go all :bsr: at the first sign of a "ford stuff up" Either way i feel better now and im glad i posted about this.

I should be able to go and see the dealership on saturday if i can get away early from work and i will be sure to state my case politely (im normally timid unless provoked).

Oh, and its a single CD player.

ps. Im going to change service dealers soon to be able to get herrod exhaust etc etc but i would like to swap with a clean slate and not bring them a problem.

I will let you guys/girls know how i go, thanks again.

cheers,
Matt

Just an update for those who replied. I have not been able to get out to the dealership due to work but at exactly 6:15 this morning i tried to eject the CD and horrah hooray it came out. The player now plays fine but i am not game to try playing another CD-R. Obviously this still pi$$es me off but im glad it plays CD's again..

One thing i did notice was that the CD it ejectec (brand new CD-R, only played twice and in perfect "mirror" condition) now has marks around the outside 1cm of the disk surface, i dont give a hoot about the CD but im wondering how this damage occured as i did not once try to force or pull it out. It looks like little sanding disk marks in a half cricle shape all the way around the CD's edge.

Anyway, thats the story so far. A friend of mine is one of the "mobile factory service" guys and im putting my faith in him from now on as he told me my service rep aint worth my time :fraz:

Cheers,
Matt

Sounds like the tray is mis aligned internally and it ate the CD, similar to a tape deck eating a TAPE, and nothing to with the fact it was a CD-R at all, but good to hear it appears to be working for now :0)

I've had my six stacker jam and it woas fixed, I was advised not to use any CD's that had a home made label, as the label often causes the trouble rather than a burnt CD.
