Well, i finally did my second outing to the drags. The main problem is the XD sits like a brick, and has NO lift of the front of the chassis, so traction was a problem this time out. I did have 2 runs that only turned the tyres minimally. This is the order of the 5 runs for the nite.

12.204 111.66 1.838 60 foot
11.904 112.78 1.703
12.003 112.50 1.759
11.906 112.78 1.732
12.074 91.83 1.723

The last run was going to be a scorcher, but a shifter problem made it drop back to 2nd at 6000rpm in top, and dropped the mph big time compression locking well before the line. Before the last run for the nite, i found the timing was 10 initial and 20 total, so i set 20/30, but had the misshap, so i'll never know what differnce it made. Still, it was a pretty good nite.

Gotta be happy with a pb Dion, a shock change seems to be needed, if you don't like 90/10's maybe you could get some Koni adjustables and put them on the soffest setting for the strip.
Congrats on making club 11, awsome effort. :hy:

Congrats on the 11. Pretty consistant runs but that extra gear change seems to be an issue :priest: Well done.

You'll go faster without the street suspension. I'm in the process of going for broke or until the money runs out. I guess thats going for broke anyway :rofl2:

nb..Told you that convertor was on the money for the setup. I spent quite a bit of $ the find that out. It's all good.

ps..change your time data in your profile.

I have 90/10s in the front, but stiff lowered springs. And still the 2 inch lowering blocks in the rear:priest:
Yeah, some things to change before my July 2007 outing.

They don't give 1/8 mile info, or i could of worked how the last run would of gone. Its a poverty strip up here.
I had MT 26/8.5/15 slicks.

Ahh thats a bugger. I use a set of custom slapper bars , 4 leaf pack with a rebound leaf, 4.11s, my 60fts are 1.56, research rear suspensions and spend wisely. jmtc.

Yeah, thought of taking my stocker out for a run (see if it runs 19 or 20) but don't know about the stone chips it'll probably get.

Good number mate, for suspension i just spoke to Glen from SJ performance and they have brought out there own caltrac style traction bars called OZTRAKS, he claims they are better quality than caltracs, stronger and cheaper. They were the agent and he also said he will beat any price offered on Caltrac's. I will be buying a set but car wont be going until next year. For Xy they are 599 light duty and 660 heavy duty. Maybe some one else has used slide a links buy Moroso and has some feedback, If they are better i will run them. And go with the 6 cyl springs 90/10's 50/50 rears, most guys seem to use Pedders and so will i. Anyway that is a good number for that track.

I've got a set of the Oztrak's on order for the XB due to my traction issues. There are a few drag days coming up I wouldn't mind attending. Not sure whether I can get the time off work? Just started at a new workplace with the same employer. I've already been offered a spot on a car transporter for a day thats coming up.

Good skills Dion. Got to be happy with those results.

I finally got the ESP to the track after a hasty rebuild. Best two runs were flat 13's.
I limited the revs to 6500 and total timing 28 deg so it wouldn't self destruct again

Was hoping to get into the 12's but it wasn't too bad a result seeing as the car was never purpose built for the strip. Gots lots of reasons like :-
Street tyres 8"
Manual sequential shifter is too slow
3.5 gears
825 carby too big for 351
Same suspension problem as you - car sits dead flat with NIL squat for weight transfer

My best 60' was 1.968. It would either bog down after launch or spin the wheels with another 500 rpm

If I fixed all the above it should be good for a low 12 but I'll never know cause its going back to std now. Might build another one later with a 393

Thats an excellent result considering setup. It must be damn hard launching a manual on REAL street tyres hey, and with 3.5 gears with that power?? Keep us informed on the next project.

Family have some vids which I will get hold of and have someone put them up

Here is a 1st gear burnout. I did about 20 passes and pulled one of these for every run. It was a private day with 40 cars run by AMC club

The 2nd gear ones were much better. Have a look at the rubber on the back guard under the body mould strip. Thats supposed to be white like the rest of the car!
