I have a 2001 Ford Focus. Recently I had problems with it failing to start. The mechanic explained that some of the battery cables had rubbed, and the coil pack was bad. So, he fixed all of that. The only problem is that the battery light comes on shortly after the car is started. I took it back to the mechanic and he checked it all over. He said he tested the alternator and battery and they were both fine. Also, he said he checked all the cables, and that there were no problems there.

Any ideas as to what is causing this light to stay on?

i have, it seems, the same problem with my focus 1.8 petrol (54 reg) .....occasionally will not start and battery light comes on for a few second when driving.

mine is going to the ford garage on thursday 9th feb 2006 so i will let you know what they say

I have a 2002 focus and i just recently had the same problem. all signs of the alternator were good. but when the car died out on me a few time i change out the alternator. then the light went out and have had no problems. the cost of the alternator was $260
