What is the hands down best rear end for an 89-97 Tbird-Cougar? I would like to know if an SC, 5.0 or 4.6 diff is felt to be the best, or if they are all pretty much the same and all are good starting point for building up. Also what are some junkyard identifiers for this "golden unit", and id'ing if it is a posi. Thanks to all for any input.
Best regards,
Tom

Hello
Well the hands down best would be a Custom 9in IRS with A Traction Lock Differential. With around 4.00 ring gear. I would love to have this in my Factory stock Circle track car.
But the best available would be the 8.8 with traction lock. This is what I have, With-out the traction lock(rule thing - not allowed) & 3.90 ring & pinion(rule).
Ford does not make Posi this is a [email protected]#Y thing.

Upgrading to Super Coupe or Lincoln axles. The lincoln drive shaft also.
