I'm interested in talking about owner experience of anyone on here who's done a blown 290. Particularly interested in the 5M setup. Driveability? Traffic behaviour? Tyre wear he he he :wnc: ? Is it Stage 2 or is it the intercooled setup?

Thanks, AP.

Yep a mate has a cappa on his GTP 5speed 303 rwkw with standed exhaust, and no intercooler, he is putting a cappa exhaust system on it this week so Ill ask him how it goes then, as for the driving, its as sweet as a nut just more grunt everywhere from idle to rev cutout, again sweeeet as, I think its running 6 pound boost,So what are you planing AP ?

I've never liked turbos. Sure they do a job but there's simply not the driver-car-engine responsiveness I crave.

Yes you are right Pete BUT have been in a V8 turbo?? Or any big capacity motor turbo'd?? Done right it's not like that...

Yes, I've been where you're saying but there's always a lag. There's no getting away from that. I don't even like the lag you get in an auto Commo V6 let alone a turbo. Crisp immediate throttle response is a true sign of a driver's engine!

Vortec is Centrifical and about the same as turbo down low..Infact even worse as boost/ flow builds with rpm.Usually max revs is there max power.Unlike twin screw blowers...

If you twin turbo'd it (which should be a near necessity on any turbo street engine over 4l) you would have really good response, maybe even better than a s/c setup. Plus you can get alot more power out of them for your money.

I can understand how a Centrifugal blower lacks low down go but can you please explain why a twin screw is instant.

Thanks.

Geese I know I'll get flamed here but I'll try....
A centrifical works on throwing air out[anything for that matter], at low speed it won't hardly work..
Take a pool pump which is centrifical turn it slow and it won't work. But at 1600+ rpm it works gangbusters..The opposite with a gear pump as in hydaulics works bloody good at low speed but falls away as revs increase..But works better at pressure as well..
Expain that right ???
A T76 single would work well almost instant spool..
Anyone who has driven in my car has never complained of lag, there honestly isn't any..Maybe different with new engine."Lower" static compression...
