Just getting ready to drop the motor in the car, so decided to fill up the converter and trans and bolt her back together. Problem is that i've put in 2 litres of Caltex Dextron 3, i don't think this was the right oil to use?? So now need to drain and clean, whats the best method to clean oil out of trans(trans is out of car) also i've now got valvoline ATF Type F trans fluids, is this right to use?

Dexron 3 is fine,i use it regularly.There are lots of different opinions on oils .The type F is said to have different friction properties and will give a slightly firmer shift. But then the dex 3 has better heat and oxidation properties.I'm putting my own together soon and it will have dexron 3 in it.
Here's one for you though,it is not uncommon for some guys to use engine oil also .We did it where i work in allison transmissions and quite a few guys in the U.S use mobil 1 synthetic engine oil.

Oh ok then, so now i just have to decide whether to get more of the dexron 3 or drain it and use the type F. Don't want to mix the oils.
