We are setting things up for R&D right now, exhaust systems,intakes,cam/heads etc.We have been working hard on the LS1 since 99 being the first into the 11 sec bracket with the LS1 & we recently ran the fastest stock internal LS1 on true street tyres in the country (12.9 @109mph-4150 pnds race weight).fullthrottle said:Soon?!?!?! Start it now!!!
The XR6T has taken too much R&D time off other shops... not fair.
If we are to tackle the LS1, and soon to be LS2, boys we'll need lots of R&D!!)
Keep us informed with any developments please.
sounds good, do you think it would take about 3 months or more before you have something to sell on the market...G&D said:We are setting things up for R&D right now, exhaust systems,intakes,cam/heads etc.We have been working hard on the LS1 since 99 being the first into the 11 sec bracket with the LS1 & we recently ran the fastest stock internal LS1 on true street tyres in the country (12.9 @109mph-4150 pnds race weight).
Our aim now is to have the fastest Fords (5.4's) at the strip & we won't stop until it's done. Before the LS1 came onto the scene I owned an EB GLI 5 litre that ran 13.9 @ 106mph.I loved that car,it sounded so sweet right up to the 6200 rev limit & beleive me it hit that often.I used to enjoy seeing the look on the WRX boys faces as I gave them hell.Everyone bagged the Fords back then & I enjoyed showing them otherwise.Although we have been working hard on the LS1 our specialty is High tech modern V8 & that includes Ford.I am looking at purchasing a BA XR8 soon but if anyone is interested in using their car for our R&D program we would be very interested, the more cars we have out at the track the better, this person must also be keen to run out at the strip & enjoy having a play on the dyno.We have a BAGT at our disposal but I would like a dead stock BA XR8 manual,if any of you guys are keen the price will be irrisistable .Our aim is to build an angry bolt on package to run at the strip & then progress through to more extensive engine mods from that point onwards. We need to make some good numbers to overcome the BA's weight disadvantage.I know I am rambling on a bit but we are so fired up,we just wan't to hit & conquer the Ford scene ASAP.I have ben a Ford man since the age of twelve & it's still in my blood. At the end of the day if it goes fast I like it.

Hi Al, thx for your input and helping us understand more about the Boss 5.4..Boss 330 said:What octane fuel is available in AU ? I ask because These engines really respond to high compression ratios.

A GTS makes 300 kw via ported cylinder heads and more aggresive camshaft, they also use 3.9 diff gears. The car in question uses only bolt ons and tuning, ie the rocker covers have never come off, it ran 12.90 @ 109 mph... think anyone else hear can say the same?Cobra said:Excuse my ignorance, but How is 12.9 fast when MOTOR mag ran a 13.24 in a stock HSV GTS? I would have thought the fastest stcok internal LS1 on street tyres would atleast be in the 11's?
Al, did you encounter any dramas with the tuning of the engine after installing aftermarket cams? Did you have to crack the code for the ECU to reset the idle revs etc and allow the engine to respond well to the cam change?Boss 330 said:This means there is not alot of hard info on what a cam only swap or porting only will do for power gains. The 5.4's i build are complete builds(Raised compression, Ported heads, Bigger cams etc.)
The weak spots....Stock connecting rods, Oil pump gears, Pistons limit rpm to about 6200.

Right, thanks for clearing that up. I guess I was unaware of the definition of a bolt on. I thought a bold on was any modification that "bolted on" that didn't change the engines aspiration.slow CV8 said:A GTS makes 300 kw via ported cylinder heads and more aggresive camshaft, they also use 3.9 diff gears. FYI, a car in similar tune ie only bolt ons, ran 12.6* @ 109 on slicks, pop in a mild camshaft and run flat 12's.
It all sounds so easy when you only read about it.
I'm local to you guys and the Silver Devil (BAXR8 Auto Ute) is begging for some fun. What you guys have to say has gotten me a little excited to say the least. Downside is I don't have time for the track and it's too valuable to me to be a full-on R&D rig, but I am interested in getting it on the dyno and being involved in some (light duty) way, even as an observer. I can offer you a tour of a key BOSS supplier if you're keen. Open to suggestions... :hehe:G&D said:Although we have been working hard on the LS1 our specialty is High tech modern V8 & that includes Ford.I am looking at purchasing a BA XR8 soon but if anyone is interested in using their car for our R&D program we would be very interested, the more cars we have out at the track the better, this person must also be keen to run out at the strip & enjoy having a play on the dyno.We have a BAGT at our disposal but I would like a dead stock BA XR8 manual,if any of you guys are keen the price will be irrisistable .
