I just replaced my auto with a new reco and the thing clunks all the time when it down shifts slowing down. If i slow down with it in neutral the thing never clunks. I took it back to the auto shop and the guy thinks has to be diff or tail shaft prob, the thing is the car never ever clunked befor with the old auto, im wondering is the guy just trying to palm it off as there may be a problem with the new box or could there may be a problem with diff or tail shaft?

Thanks 89 EA 3 speed

I have experienced this on my AU II at various speeds on the auto downshift there will be a clunk from the auto. Its a rare occurance and difficult to reproduce (for me) Which is a pain to explain to a mechanic. It may not do it for weeks then CLUNK down shifting decellerating from 110 through 100 or 60 thru 40 down hill. It seems when there is negative pressure on the auto change down. Has anyone got a fix 4 this??
