Hi people,

I'm gonna be setting a database for us people to put info about our cars and pix and stuff. It'll be at www.probedb.co.uk which does exist but there's nothing there.

Anyways, I'd love people's feedback on ideas and such.

It'll be running on MySQL/PHP so it'll be a full searchable database.

Sounds like a really cool idea. Kind of a homepage for all Probe owners. I suppose what you could do is this. Break down the links by year. Then within each year have individual links to the respective Probe owners vehicles. There are sites like this, but usually for club members. I do not recall a nationwide Probe owner database such as this, what a great idea. Keep us updated!

Well I'm workin on it as we speak (or type) but this is in my spare time, but hopefully gimme a coupla weeks and I'll try and get something up.

Will also have a username/password feature to let you edit your details. Not sure how I'm gonna do the pix thing yet, maybe have a script to generate the thumbnails automatically.

But nothing will go straight in, it'll email me so I don't get any dodgy pix going up :)

But any ideas just gimme a yell.

I have written a few scripts that would work as far as pic post. It will allow the users to post the pictures to a database and then the DB will email you with the information that there is a new addition. What happens is that you have to authorize the pic. Once authorized it thumbnails it and does the deeds. As far as a user database.... email me. I need to tak to you. BTW you should have a PM about what I want to talk about.

Erm no comment :D

Actually the code now allows you to add your car, login and edit as required, etc. Plus I have management facilities, cars don't go live till I checked them for rude stuff :)

Still gotta sort the picture uploading and thumbnailing, anyone out there any info/ideas ???

Also gotta design it.

K, check it out, my site at http://www.fordprobedb.co.uk/ is now working and if you want to go add your car and upload pix then you can.

If your car doesn't appear in the list of available cars mail me, for the time being add your car and then change it once I've added your car type.

Please tell peeps about this, I'd love it to become a big success.

hey Killswitch! We have a problem! Not all Probes fall into your selection when you add your car. I don't have a 16V, a 24V, or a GT, or an SE. I have a 12 Valve 3.0 LX! Also, you are forgetting the 12V non GT, GL. I'll have to wait until you add the 12V 3.0 to register! Sorry! Also, I think you should have an area for non Probe owners to go and see all the cars without having to create an account and logging in. Other than these few flaws, everything looks good, but please do not restrict it to Probe owners only, your site would be great to show off the Probe to the rest of the world!
