I am switching from stock heads to aluminum. My stock heads have 65.5 cc chambers my aluminum heads have 61 cc chambers. I want to keep the same (or close) compression ratio by using thicker copper head gaskets. Does anyone know what thickness I would need? I have seen 0.030 0.040 & 0.060 and there may be others?
thanks, Jeff
I forgot to say that my current head gaskets are supposed to compress to a thickness of 0.039 and the copper head gaskets are not supposed to compress at all.

Not to sure but I think around .90 thou for the copper gaskets. If your going to Alloy the extra compression will not hurt as alloy is a cooler metal than std cast heads and has a lot more tolerance before detonating, what engine Clev or Wind?
