Hi all.

Please someone help me?

I've been trying to get a hex plug out my 351W 1994 block and as you can see in the picture I've broke the casting/hole/block.

Have I knackered the block or is there welding that can be done? Enough thread left if the section that's about to come off comes off?

Any information would be really appreciated.

Cheers Marty

I’ve been quoted £1875 or to some of you $2387 to get it fixed and pressure tested.

And I quote...
“I can see the problem, its not easy to repair, we could weld it and pressure test, albeit you would need to machine all faces on the block and line bore the mains and cam bore due to the pre-heat fusion welding causing the block to distort.
Estimate for welding and testing with a bead blast £1875 ex vat/transport. Based on pictures sent.”

What you guys think?

it’s obviously a new block I’d get.
But they’re so hard to get in the UK.

Regards
Marty

I’m absolutely gutted.

I feel so f*%#$ing thick.
mall these blocks and engines are hard to come by in the UK. And import tax is a killer.

I assume I’m making me self sound even more stupid but could I not drill out that park and re-tap the hole in the block or something?
Anything that I could trust. What’s max pressure the coolant system sees? 59psi?

I would clean it up and use J-B Weld Cold-Weld Steel Reinforced Epoxy with Hardener. Will cost about $4.00 and that isn't a stressed part of the block. Worth a try. Devcon also has some outstanding epoxy for cast iron repair. But it MUST be clean.
