Although my stereo is currently unworkable thanks to the works of theives, before I get all my new gear, something I want to know.

The headunit I have is very similar to the one I'm getting.
old was clarion dxz435 4 x 52 W
new is clarion dxz735mp 4x 52 W aswell.

I was running 6 inch 200W clarion 2 way speakers (srx1784) in the rear. think 45W RMS
in the front i was running pioneer 6 inch splits (ts-c1653) 150W. thik 50W RMS

As i understand it (keep in mind my knowledge of car audio is extremely limited) these speakers should be able to handle the power of the deck right? yet the volume control on the deck goes up to 33, but when I have it on about 25 the whole system crackles. What causes this? not enough power to the speakers, too much? bad wirirng?

any suggestions before I install the new HU and possibly new splits.

Thanks alot

Mikey.

Your pretty much just overworking the built in amp in your deck, causing it to distort. There's nothing wrong with your speakers, getting a seperate amp will let you run your speakers alot harder than off the HU, the type of amp you get will greatly effect how your speakers sound.
