In my opinion, the more places we have to share information, the better. The quality boards will keep members. I also have several different Ford vehicles, and will keep a close eye on this board. I also very much enjoy Crown Vic.net. I don't see it as much a competition as an increase in possible contacts with information.
This site is well set up.....I like to be able to view Ford products in broad terms......I love the CV.net too!!!...I have met some really knowledgable people there....I did like some others start out on the www.blueovalnews.com....but that site has dried up like the Sahara Desert.....Its nice to have yet another Ford site to visit.....Thanks for making me feel welcome.....Allen
JW.....You have a 460 just laying around?....That must be nice!!!!....What year Stang are you talking about putting that Beast in to?......I like any year Musatng SSP....But my favorites were the late 60's model Fastbacks....I really like the Big Stangs...71-73....It was one of the first Qoute Hot Rods I ever rode in!!!....I like the Nascar K-code 429 Boss most of all.....A Rare Bear!!!!!...........Allen.
Allen, LoL, thinking of putting the 460 in my 1989 LX 'stang
You forgot that from the other board?? lol
I had the 460 built up, was thinking of putting it in a F250
truck I had, but that didn't work out.
The 429 Boss Mustangs were nice, friend of mine got one right
at the same time I got my 426 HemiCuda. LoL We use to have
a lot of fun roaming the streets of Philadelphia (where we lived).
Took the '89 Stang out earlier today, was finally nice outside, no
snow or ice. Took my kiddo with me, he is 15 now, and THINKS
he is getting the car in a year or so.. We were playing around,
first gear, total wheelspin, same in second, same in third
Ran a 12.3 last fall with slicks, about 23.4 with street tires LoL
JW....That's of course your call on the 460....but in a 89 LX.....Gee that's a lot of wieght....I would guess this would take some serious suspension work to accomodate....I have read that use of the mid 70's Mustang II suspension would allow all this Big block stuff to work in a Fox Body....But is it worth it?.....It sounds like you have a runner on your hands as is!!!....If I had a 460....I would find a 60's or 70's vintage Galaxie or LTD and build a Police package car that would react like it was fresh out of the Infernal Regions.....But Like I said this is completely your call!!!...and it will make for interesting reading No matter what choice you make!.......Allen
Allen, you would probably be surprised if you knew the actual
weight difference between a Ford small block and a 460 LoL
We are probably talking of maybe 150 pounds max
Get a good set of struts like the Tokico 5-ways I have and
set them on the highest setting (number 5).. Go with an
aftermarket set of front springs, and that weight difference
turns into nothing..
I'm not worried about the front end set up, or the rear,
as I already have the Stedda upper/lower arms, sub frame
connectors, tower brace, rear support, Detroit Locker, etc.,
but I am not sure how to get more power to the ground without
running slicks full time..
I can't use the HP I have right now on normal street tires...
If you can make that all happen in a Fox Body....Don't let anything stand in your way.........What I wrote was just a personal perspective......Going way outside the Stock realm un-nerves me!!..from a money standpoint only...creative thought is Indeed a great thing !!!!...Allen.....
JW....Yes Sir....The 88 is still a diamond in the Rough....The paint shop is Coming within mear weeks...Bluesmobile (Bless his Heart) has found me a R/H mount and Spotlight so everything will Jell at the Body shop....Robert and I will meet within 2 weeks in regard to the intake and Carb.....Beyond that the issues are still somewhat wide open.....I am taking this thing one day at a time Dear Lord...One day at a time....Every time I feel clear to bust a move on things...some other un-related issue rears its ugly head!!!.....at this rate I would have to own the GD airline to try to keep up....Like I stated from day one....This is a project in the works....The paint issue is primary...The Carb/Intake is next....Beyond that time once again is on my side.....Allen
Allen, sounds like the project is right on track The new paint
job will do wonders for the car, what color are you going with??
The intake/cam/heads issue will be a critical one, since all of them
will have to work together. From what I recall you had the intake
and carb picked out, are you still going with that setup?
I was going to switch out the headlights on one of my 1997 CVPI's
today, so of course it is pouring outside, very heavy rain. No
garage here, so I might have to hold off on the project. At least it
is rain and not snow =)
The poor mustang is sitting in the driveway, lonely and wet. It's
more of a fair weather car, really don't want to get it out on days
JW....The 88 P72 is going to be Jet Black...The windows are already tinted to our states legal limit...I just have this vision of that car from a front view....Black and Chrome..and dual spotlights....Kinda Ominous Don't you think?......AS for the Carb setup and Intake That's set in stone!!!....I feel certain I will be Going with the Edlebrock Line Up we all last talked about....That gives everything balance.....and it was designed to work together........I guess I shouldn't complain too much about how long things are taking....It's not like this car is the only issue in my life!!!....Allen.....
Black.. You are going to have a winner... If you can, tell me what the
engine combo looks like so far on the CV
Shop here has a longblock that I might try out in the Stang. They offered
to let us install it and see what we think. Would probably pick up about
20 RWHP staying with the Cobra EFI, if so it would cut about two tenths
in the quarter mile.. Decisions, decisions lol
I've done some extensive research on-line and other than those clubs I only found one more Marauder club (Association) that basically speculates on the arrival of the new Ford model, the Mercury Marauder...
