Hey all, so I have an 04 F150 with the 5.4L V8. I recently changed my spark plugs and coil packs, but now I'm getting a CEL indicating a misfire on Cylinder 3. I've also changed out the Bank 1 Camshaft Position Sensor but with no luck.

I happen to have a Bluetooth dongle attached to the OBD2 port and an Android app to give me feedback in real time to see what's going on. However, I'm not the most educated individual with regard to engines, so a lot of these numbers and figures don't mean much to me. I have a bunch of PDFs saved locally as well.

Any help is appreciated.

Is your truck fuel injected ? if so sounds like low voltage on an injector and its either dumping gas or trickling drops into the cylinder.

I had the same thing happen on my ‘96 Taurus, years ago. Turned out to be a defective spark plug, right out of the new box.

Do you have your old parts you could swap back in? I’d try moving one thing at a time to see if the problem follows.

+1 on looking at the plug on the mid-firing cylinder. Reading the plug can tell a lot.

Thanks for the advice guys, turns out it was my injector. I sprayed some carb cleaner while connecting the injector to a 9 volt battery and only 2 of the 4 holes sprayed at all. Replaced the injector and, while it idles a bit rough (possibly normal due to being the 5.4L v8) it runs just fine and smooth. Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated!
