I am in the process of getting a set of rotors for my E.B Which is the better one's.I have heard that the x drilled ones can crack under hard us.In a XR 8 they need all the durability they can get.I take it the latter models would be fairly much the same?

Hi EBXR8240...
I have DBA slotted rottors on my car. I was gonna get the cross drilled ones, but David from SAS talked me out of it when he showed me the ones on the excel he had there... After 2 laps at eastern creek they got cracked!!

Agreed Rob. I haven't had any probs with my slotted / cross-drilled numbers, but I have also heard about the cracking. Generally speaking, I wouldn't deny that they'd crack, but I have yet to induce it in mine :D In all honesty, the only reason I went for the drilled over the slotted was for looks. There, I said it. *hangs head in shame* :D

Yeah looks like i'll be getting slotted discs for my next brake over haul, and after the hard hard braking last night :CraZ: think there goin to be due alittle earlier than expected, though me still got abit of pad life left.

I got quoted for prices from AutoOne for the fronts of the EF:

$77.50 stockie
$158.40 Slotted
$211.20 Slotted + Drill

Are these for pairs or one disc

Forget about AutoOne!!

You can buy the slotted and cross drilled from here for your EF for $165.62 a pair! (front) And the non-ABS ones are even cheaper at $146.51!!

Well seems slotted are the best performance to dollar ratio.

As for pads i'm using the Bendix standard heaps better IMO than Motorcraft stuff. But if the bendix ultimates are cool might give them a go.

Does anyone know if they ar sintered metal pads or semi metallic, reason for asking is i don't pads that chew discs like buggery.

I know bendix premium's and especially metal kings chew discs out.

Excellent article in the lattest Motor mag about brakes if you get the chance for a read.

I have slotted on my car but the disc is 335. They look ok probably not as impressive as crossed drilled but they work extremely well. There seems to be a move away from cross drilled in the market towards grooves. Not sure if it is my imagination or not. HSV are said to be ready to offer a higher spec system than the one they have now and it won't be crossed drilled

Slotted rotors are the go. Check out the rotors on a V8 Supercar next time you get a chance, they are slotted only.

Very nice strife. If you don't mind me asking what if any alterations had to be made. Did the ABS have to be re calibrated?
