Tis me again with another idea in the pursuit of power, I got an EBII I6, and was thinking since these things cut out at 5500rpm, due to the stroke of the engine being at or close to capacity, wat if i were to de-stroke it to lets say 3.5L, and then bore out the block (making it close to 4L again) which would help in revving, if anyone has any info on this you rock. Thank you

well you'd have a bit of trouble locating a destroker kit of that size methinks. you could get the crank and rods from an early 88 EA, there was an 3.2l option.

Depending on how far you could over-bore the block, wouldnt it be better to leave the stroke and increase the bore for a more square engine? GM destroyer?

Its not that I dont want more capacity I'd Love to have lets say a 5L I6 but I also want to be able to rev it to around 6-7Grand

the main issue with revving is the rod/stroke ratio.

you would have to deffinatly run an au bottom end with some commondore eco tech piston due to the high pin height (also look into toyota torago pistons)

nissin blubird rods are 6.2 inches long, these will help a lot. but going for 6.5 inch rods as a minimum would be best.

i'll have a little look round and get back to you lot with it.

as i am oing either for a 5800rpm 4.4lt stroker or a 4.0lt that will rev to 7000rpm,

the important ratio is Stroke to Rod ratio

Just wondering if that would really give you that much more power....

As most people know, an effective launch and good power come from large amounts of torque, especially in such heavy cars as Falcons. Decreasing your stroke will bring your torque down considerably.

if you are going to all that trouble to try and engineer stuff to fit to change the stroke of your engine (and you cant bore them that much as the cylinders are too close togather) just get a bloody turbo!

all these things you are considering -- get a complete AU motor form a wreckers with like 40,000km on it (you can get them for $850 up here, for everything between the sump and rocker cover inclusive)

an AU motor will rev to 6k no worries, and then source a few second hand parts (turbo, cooler etc) turbo the car.

with the right turbo and enough fuel you will pull 250kw at the wheels no worries, for less than 8k in total, and it will even look pretty as well.

a stock rebuild on a EB costs about 2k to start with, so with a AU motor you are already 1250 bucks ahead, and the motor is far stronger and revs harder as well.
