I did the conversion on my EA the other day and now its finished the car feels like it has lost power.

I used to be able to smoke it up very easily and now it wont smoke at all.
The acceleration is no where near what it seemed to be before i did the conversion.

It could be the computer is from a manual car and the car is an auto so that might be the problem or it could be the cam.

I think the cam isnt standard and the computer have been modified to suit the cam and thats why its playing up but i arent sure and any help would be appreciated

Is your iginition timing correct?
Advance it up the rough and crude method, that is, advance it 2 degrees at a time until it pings, then drop it back 2 degrees.

did you use the conversion instructions from fordforums or did you have a go yourself? maybe read them and see if you went wrong anywhere?

The main issues with MPI conversions gone wrong is Ignition timing as Soxx mentioned and Fuel supply issues. A lot of the time wreckers supply CFI pumps as they dont usually know theyre different between the two. The easy way to tell is MPI is silver. CFI black or brown.This is the actual pump case which has a black rubber sleve around it.

Start with your timing first tho. An MPI that doesnt haul ass awy from a CFI is definitly sick.

I'll bet timing as well, had similar issues with my conversion, timing plays a huge roll as I have learnt.
