Probably been done before, forgive me - I'm new and looking for guidance.
I have a 2013 Focus base model 5 door hatch and both passenger side door latch units have failed.
The doors have to be tied shut, which is most inconvenient and unlikely to be legal. So I want to fix asap.
And here is the problem. Ford charges near $300 each for these units, so I'm trying to source aftermarket or used. All the info out there in googleland says 2011-2015 take the same parts. But nothing I can find with the SAME part number on the unit/s themselves.
For instance, for a used front left I can find (fits your car) BM5A-A21813-DD or BM5A-A21813-DE or AM5A-U21813-BF. The actual unit in my car has the number AM5A-U21813-BB on it.
Then there is the rear door. Mine says AM5A-R26413-AB.
Are any of the various part number versions compatible? Or do I need the exact one?

Best bet is to contact a Ford parts dept and ask them what the difference is , if any . May be a superseded part number or minor change but still usable .
