I am currently having a small problem with a vacuum leak and have tracked it down, but ran out of light today to hopefully fix it. Now the questions. I have traced the leak down to the turquoise vacuum tube as pinching the tube stops the hissing. Now it only hisses when the temp control is on full cold and I have noticed this is the only time vacuum seems to go through the temp controller, and consequently through the turquoise vacuum tube. Why is there only vacuum at full cold? and the vacuum is never going through the turquoise vacuum tube at any other position? and whats the purpose of this?

i'm curious :1read:

it should have some vacuum there all the time ,, without it the A/C will only blow onto the screen reguardless of where you set it

Yeah I know that, the other 8 or 9 tubes handle that sort of thing. I'm only interested in the turquoise one and it purpose. Might be a tough question tho.

Is it plugged into the heater tap in the engine bay? Your car being EB2 will have 2 hoses coming from the firewall. one black which is a vacuum source and green which controls the heater tap. Check it hasn't come adrift.

As NZ indicatedthe turquoise hose controls the heater tap and that why it works on full cold (to turn the tap off).

Thanks NZ and Aussiblue! vacuum leak solved! After way to much effort trying to fix this problem it ended up being that the white connector next to the heater was the problem. After looking at the back of it I found the corresponding tube to the turquoise one had fallen out. Plugged it back in and it works fine again!

Such a simple problem had such a simple answer........... wish I knew that earlier :/
