After changing my cruise switches over with a member on here, im getting Code 52 flashing. I disconnected the airbag fuse, and the airbag at the time. Its all reconnected and now it wont go away!

I've been told Code 52 is caused by the capacitor in the airbag module not reaching the desired voltage.

Is there anyway of reseting the error? i left the main battery disconnected for hours and did nothing.

On the data link connector there is a airbag code clear pin. after the ignition is turned on and the airbag light has flashed the code you gound the pin and the cluster will beep 5 times. The code should then clear. Code 52 just means that the battery voltage to the airbag curcit has been interupted. if it flashs code 12 this is a hard fault and you will probably find the fuse blown.

I purchased a 1993 Taurus with the airbag supposedly already disabled and the airbag orange dash light has always blinked with a pattern (3 pause, 2 pause, long pause, repeat or something like that) so when I did some major service work that required removing the dash, I pulled out the lightbulb for the airbag dash indicator. After having done so and when I first started the vehicle, I would now get a beeping noise coming I believe from the passenger side under dash light blue computer control module (5 beeps, pause "5 times" for a total of 25 beeps at start up and again every 30 minutes for as long as the vehicle remained running) a bit annoying on long trips.
So a month later, on the same day I prepared to unplug the light blue, but before I remember doing so, the vehicle would not start (no clicking or starter turning or anything) but when I closed the passenger door, a beeping noise now came from the trunk, and as I remember, the beeping would continue as long as the door was shut and the keys were in the ignition (or maybe even with the keys out) but when I opened the door (if I remember correctly) the trunck beeping would stop. Any ideas what I should look at first? Thanks Michael

Go to the Data Link Connector next to the fuse panel....

find a piece of wire 100mm long (bare ends)

igniton to ACC

Top row ... 4th from left = Air Bag Clear pin

connect to

Bottom row... 3rd from left = Ground pin

having connected these two pins for a few seconds
(must have GOOD CONNECTION... not easy)

you will hear 5 quick BEEPS... then remove wire...
check for any new codes....
(PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE FIXED BEFORE CODE CAN BE CLEARED)
repeat above if necessary

NOTE*

No responsibility taken if you miss the required pin and blow something up :p

Same Car, Same Problem. It was first reset with a code scanner tool, but then came back. Started when the alternator was taken out for repair.
