Hi guys

The "ambient" button on my climate control in my EF Fairmont doesn't seem to be doing anything at all. Can this be easily fixed and whats the actual function of this button anyway?

Thanks

The "ambient" button is supposed to show the outside temperature, it doesn't do anything else. The ambient temperature sensor is in the middle of the radiator air deflector in the front of the vehicle.

The ambient sensor still has an input to the air-con workings, if it is faulty you will normally get over-cooling at normal outside temps, but the ambient button itself doesn't control anything.

You can do a self test by pushing MODE and OFF simultaneously, wait 30 seconds.

Code E5 means Ambient sensor open circuit. You will get 88.8 while the test is in progress and OFF is there is no faults.

Push the AUTO button to resume.

You can do this test any time the air-con is working, just remember to push the AUTO button when the test is over.

cheers
