Since it's been bloody hot down here in Melbourne for the last week or two, I've been cruising down to Elwood beach a fair bit for a swim and to check out the cars. If you want a good place to cruise to of a night then it's not bad. Tuesday nite went off! The car park was full and most of the cars were modded. There was this white van there full of Kicker subs that was providing the tunes, while a heap of other cars were going spastic doing burnouts to keep the crowd entertained. The weird thing was that I didn't see a single cop car or undercover all night. The carpark didn't even close like it says on the signs...I was there until about 1:30 and it was still full!

Went down again last night but too early for all the cars....but when I was leaving this white ED with 17" AU2 wheels followed me out (clearly on purpose lol) and as I pulled out onto the esplanade he flew up next to me wanting to race. I dropped two gears and *just* pulled away but only by 1/2 a car then backed off cause speeding is a no no  Was talking to him at the next lights and it was an auto (stock) with 4.11's and some engine work. Said it had about 160rwkw's!! Has anyone seen this guy around? It was a bloody nice looking car and had a sticker of the performance joint on the back window (didn't see what it was tho).

hey thanx man! well basically ive got a jmm dev5 kit put on my car along with 4.11's lsd although i opted for the jmm race series headers instead of the 'scavenger" ones also got a k&n pod filter but i left the standard snorkel there to guide air to it for now until i make my proper cold air intake system.
The dyno graph showed 160rwkws but i was hoping for a little more still cant compain though excellent top end power. bottom end is silightly more powerful than standard but not by much the cam kicks in at around 3800rpm sorta like boost lolol neway how much u rekon a manual conversion would cost?

Fvck the shift kit, go manual, IMO there's no point modding the auto's on these things. From what I hear it'll cost you around the $1000 mark, Obviously a fair bit less if you did it yourself.

BTW this is Rmyers logged in as Thanatos

Na actually man the auto in the fords can be done quite nicely have u been down to preston automatics & diffs?? they do a custom shift kit which really helps out a fair bit. I understand that manual conversion would be an ideal situation but that would require me to go and get a manul license which frankly i cant be ****ed lol besides since i know the guys down there there putting in the kit for under $300

the 4.11's and the shiftkit will get it moving well, but how's your RPM @ 100? that'd be the killer i'd assume :)
i'm interested to see what sort of time it does down the 1/4 and does the trans seem to have any issues with 160rwkw going through it? :p

With the 4.11 the auto should be pretty good off the line, but I reckon a stall up around the 2800rpm mark will be better still.

Hmmm.. me wants a run as well :)

lololol lets hire out calder for a day!!!!! yhe i rekon a 3000 stallie would be nice but would make it a very good dialy driver which it is. The trans holds up well soo far and i do give it a pretty hard time although i took jmm's advice and put a nice tras cooler on it. at 100 kays the tacho needle sits at around 2500-2600rpm

Yeah I've heard good things about the shift kit from the Preston guys as well. For $300 you may as well just get it done and do the T5 conversion later if your still not happy. I think my conversion cost me around a grand all up. I bought a wreck and took the trans out then got it all fitted for $550. Although the box wasn't that good and the input shaft broke and chewed it up on the inside. Got another second hand one put in and then the syncro's went in that....so thought f*ck it and got it all rebuilt with new parts. Then not long ago it came out again to put a heavy duty clutch in.....bloody cost me heaps in the end :( I guess the moral of the story is if ur gonna to a manual conversion, make sure the box ur putting in is good ;) t5's aren't known for their strength.
