Probably not, the Mark VIII engine is wider than the 5.0 that was in it. It is also taller. The 4.6 SOHC is wider than a 460 cu.in.!!!!!!! The 4.6 DOHC like the Mark has is even wider than that! You MAY squeeze it in there, but I doubt it could happen.

engine swap

Hey Black 97 GT, I was hoping that since the newer CV's
come with a 4.6 that it would work. Do you know what the difference is? Is the car wider? It looks wider and lower but I haven't measured it yet. Thanks, Tim.

It should fit in the newer CV's. The Marauder will have the 4.6 4-valve next year with the same body as the car has now. The 92 and up CV's are wider and lower and a tad longer then the 79-91's. I don't know the exact dimensions offhand, but the car is bigger yes. Glad I can help!

Someone on CVN in the tech section claims that a DOHC 4.6 will fit easily in a '92-'97 Crown Vic. There was some discussion about a new model being a bit more difficult to squeeze it into. I don't know what makes the '92-'97 so much easier, but according to this guy's posts (Crazy Chris DOHC, or something like that), it's no problem.
