I need to put a new exhaust system on my 91 LSC. Can anyone recommend a system that isn't real restrictive, but doesn't turn the car into a headache to drive? I don't mind a muscular tone, but I don't want even marginally loud & NO resonance..

I was told that the aftermarket systems for 86-93 Mustangs will
bolt on with a few easy mods? Anyone have experience going this route?

Thanks in adavance for any advise..

Hey Ant, where did you get that giant scoop? Looks mean!!

well since you have the 351 in yours i would go with some 3 chamber flowmasters with an off road H pipe.

and yes the mustang parts will fit but you have to extend both ends of the tail pipes by about 4" i think.

actually you will need to buy the Ford Motorsport Shorty 351w conversion headers!!!! these are the only headers that will fit on once you put the 351 in! with those you can then use standard mustang h pipe or x pipe. im running a mac 2.5 inch h pipe but i feel like it really needs a larger exhaust! i would put 3 inch dual exhaust to dumps on. thats what im goin to be doin in a few weeks. but like i said you have to get those headers nothing else will fit. i had the hood custom made down here in miami. i admit its a little big but i like it and it really gets attention!!!! if you are goin fuel injected you will need to modify your hood to fit the 351w you probably wont have to go quite as big as i did but im a firm believer that bigger is better! let me know if you have any more questions!! i will help ou!

exhaust

Thanks Ant! What's with the headers not fitting? Is it that
headers for the 5.0 won't fit the exhaust if used on a 351, or
is it that any 5.0 header used on a 351 won't fit in the chassis?

I bought a set of used BBK headers for a 5.0 They are currently on the 351. I bought an H-pipe that is 3 pieces. Both a left & right side, along with a balance tube that is a clamp together
arangement. I assumed that the 5.0 headers will be a tad shorter and spread further apart when installed on a 351, so I liked the idea of a clamp together H-pipe. (I can make the balance tube longer, effectively widening the h-pipe and then it should fit the 351 with any 5.0 shorty header..

Let me bennefit from your vast experience. What do you think?
Am I in for a eye opener?? I'm almost ready to get this beast together. Not as beefed up as your 351, but should be a nice
power gainer over a 302..

I like the scoop! Looks Bad Ass!!!!!!!! Any 1/4 times yet?
I also believe bigger is better.. Thanks for the eductaion..

I'll give you a big heads up...
We tried every header available and ONLY the FMS 351 conversion header will fit in a Mark VII.The stock type 5.0 headers exit right into the firewall due to the 1" taller deck and added width of the 351.If you got 5.0 headers to fit you must have had them blessed by the Pope or something.

the problem with the 5.0 headers is they will point into the firewall and will not give you room to connect your exhaust and the steering shaft will not clear the driver side. the ford conversion headers are tucked in and end up in the stock 5.0 place and just barely clear the steering shaft enough to make them work. i havent taken it to the track yet it has a junkyard tranny in there right now i really need to get a good tranny in there something that will last a little ;) as soon as i do its off to the track to go tear some Sh!t up!!! haha! if you have any other questions just let me know. also what you doing about brackets???? the stock lincoln ones wont work i had to modify stock mustang ones to fit. or if you have the brackets that came with the 351w that will work too! if you get mustang ones or the 351w brackets you are good to go! let me know if you have any questions i will do my best to answer them!:D

exhaust

Thanks again Ant.. I bought a few Mustang conversion brackets for the 351 from FMS.

Didn't know about the headers though. Engine is still on the stand with the 5.0 BBks on it. Looks as though I'll have to go get the FMS 351 swap headers.. DAM, this is getting expensive!

Oh well, gotta pay to play I guess...

Thanks Again!
