I'm looking forward to buy a new car and still looking for candidates. I'm more into midsize sedans. One of it is Mazda 6. I heard it has an excellent 4-cylinder Mazda engine. So far positive reviews are done on this but what I wanna hear are the faults of it and compare those to the others on my car list.
Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!:driver:

What other cars are on your list?

I like the Mazda 6 with the 2.3L. There are a lot around and most newer models that sit on dealers' lots have gone down a lot in price. I find it a bit snug for my size but the wife likes it so we'll see. A few faults that I've noticed when I had it out for a road test was that its smaller than its competitors in the 4dr sedan market in the same price range. The manual trans is a bit buzzy on the highway 2700rpm at 100km/h(62mph) vs 2100 for the automatic at the same speed. Performance with the auto could be better of course. I'm not sure if it was the car I drove or not but it had 2300kms on it (5 speed model) and the clutch seemed a bit notchy. The wife missed the 2-3 and 4-5 shifts when she test drove it. Gripes aside I still prefer the manual to the auto and would order one with the 5 speed. I didn't find a big performance gain with the V6 auto over the I4 that they had at the dealer. I'm a tall guy(6'2) and my hair just brushes against the roof liner if I sit in the back seat.

Mazda's come a long way in quality over the years. I had a B2300 some time ago and took it in to the dealer because paint was peeling off around the rear fenders and tailgate. The dealer said it was 'rock chips' so they wouldn't cover it. I was in a battle for nearly a year before the dealer was forced to repaint the truck. I sold it after that since it was no longer under warranty and the clutch was starting to go.
