hey guys,
this is the 1st time i have been on here and i really have no idea what to do, but i am wondering on some things about my ba xr6t, my ba has the 5 speed manual in it (also known as a T5 box) well i have been told that the gear boxes are pretty weak in them and i am looking at working is.
i was told the gear box wouldnt be able to take anything over 240 rear wheel kilowatts i want more!!!

so i was just asking to see if anyone knew of a way of gettin the gear box rebuild or what would be the best way to get the gear box to handle the power??

I have the same set up, and wondered the same thing. APS seems to think that the box is fine unless you really abuse the thing. The cluth is the weak link, so will need upgrading with serious power levels (over 300rwkw). Eddie Tassone managed 1500 rear wheel hp with this box at summernats (it was twiated after!), so the box can cope with a fair bit of power.

well that is for sure good news... only thing is there has been 2 that this guy knows of so far... and the last thing i need is to blow a gear box, i was lookin at the aps 390kw kit, but i also have a few friends in the work shop bresciani racing witch are tryin to get me some deals with there stuff.. but i was only lookin at a cooler exhaust chip and air intake witch will give me a pretty fast car..

Its not so much the power but the torque that can kill the T5.
Consider a T56 tremec, if you plan to go high output.

agreed i blew 2 gear boxes in my ute with only 230 rear wheel kilowatts (managed to get both covered by warranty :shh: ) best bet is to go the 6 speed cause lets face anything around that power or more ya gonna abuse it otherwise whats the point. malwood automotive should be able to hook ya up for about 8 grand from memory
