I have an 04 explorer with the rear tv/dvd entertianment center. I recently took out my factory CD player head unit and installed an Eclpise AVN5435 DVD/Navi system. Once I did that I lost the ability to use the rear entertainment center. The rear DVD player powers up but no power or picture on the screen.

This is what I want to do and does anyone know if it possible.....?

I want the rear tv to act as a relay to the front screen (i.e be able to show what is playing on the eclipse deck that is up front. But be also to use the "source" button on the rear DVD player and be able to play a differnt DVD in the back. So the eciplse deck can show the navigation and play the radio out of the car speakers, but also have the kids pop in a DVD in the back and be able to untilize the wireless headphones.

I've talked to a bunch of people and no one seems to have an answer. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated. My email address is [email protected].

The short answer to your question is yes...it can be done. The long answer is quite that...lengthy. There are a couple questions I'd like to ask in order to narrow it down a bit...Did you install this new system yourself? Do you have it set up where the radio mutes when you get a cell phone call? Do you have a satelite radio installed? What kind of wiring diagram came with the new system? I know the Explorer has the Premium sound system with the DVD setup, but is it the one with the amplifier? Do you have a jukebox CD changer?

Let me know about these things and we'll see.

I had the unit installed by a local authorized Eclipse dealer. He said it couldn't be done unless a company comes out with a infared modular much like the one for the steering wheel controls. I didn't believe him and now I am searching for answers.

I do not have it set up to mute when I get cell phone calls.

No satellite radio

No Jukebox CD changer

I have the 04 Explorer limited model. Where would the factory amp be? I looked everywhere besides in the dash. My best guess would be that I don't have a factory amp

As for the wireing diagram. I am guessing its a typical wireing harness for any other CD player. But that would not explain why my DVD player powers up (possibly its spliced into one of the power wires that runs into the deck)
