FORD HAS ROOM FOR MONDEO
Ford's chief executive officer Nick Scheele suggests that a Mondeo-sized
intermediate Ford sedan is needed in the company's lineup. With the compact
Focus anchoring the bottom end and the large Five Hundred sedan coming in two
years' time, Ford will find itself without a Camry/Accord competitor; Scheele
told Automotive News such a vehicle "feeds into our cycle plan," though he did
not confirm that the vehicle could be based on the next-generation Ford
Mondeo nor that it would in fact replace the current Taurus. Scheele also
suggested that Ford needs a low-cost vehicle to compete with the entry-level Korean
cars.

I think the new Mondeo would fit nicely into the Mercury line up.
For starters it has has styling that would fit in with other current Mercury products plus it has all the hallmarks of a class leading car as it has picked up many Car of the Year awards all over the world.
I don't think the yanks know what they are missing with this car - it is that damn good.

I hope and pray that the Mondeo will come here. As a owner of a 99' Mystique I don't see how they stop importing the car in the first place!
