I have A 1961 Galaxie with, I have been told, a 302 c.i. out of a 1969 Mustang. The car has sat for some time with the fuel pump inlet hose disconnected and I want to make sure the fuel pump works. I put the inlet hose in a container of gas and the outlet hose in a catch container and cranked the engine but nothing comes out. I tried this several times with the same results. I also tried this with a Holly pump. Before I installed both pumps, I put white grease on the arm where it contacts the cam and when removed, I saw a good sized contact patch.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks, Gene

You have to prime it by manually fill the carb bowls with fuel and starting the car.

You have to get gas into the pump, I'd either connect it or hook it to something to fill the discharge side.
