Have a 2020 Explorer and the headlight went out. Took to dealer, and they say that the headlight must be replaced all in one assembly, including taking the bumper off to do so. The part alone will be over $1600, and with labor it will be over $2k. The car only has 38,000 miles, but my warranty is technically up. How is this the only option on something as trivial as a headlight, and why does Ford force you to pay that much when it is a design flaw on an otherwise very cheap and common part?

Anyone else dealt with this issue, or had any luck convincing Ford that this is unfair?

SKIP TO 37 SECONDS OF THIS VIDEO AND YOU'LL SEE A BIG RUBBER PLUG WHICH HIDES THE HEADLIGHT BULB. YOU TAKE OUT THE RUBBER PLUG AND TURN THE PLASTIC PIECE ON THE BULB COUNTER CLOCKWISE AND IT'LL COME OUT. UNHOOK THE WIRE TO IT AND PUT A NEW BULB IN IT. DON'T TOUCH THE GLASS PART OF THE BULB BEFORE OR WHILE PUTTING IT IN. YOU DON'T HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY JUST THE BULB. THIS EXPLORER IN THE VIDEO IS 2017 AND SHOULD BE THE SAME AS YOUR 2020. THEY SELL THE LOW HIGH BEAM COMBO PACK BULBS ON AMAZON FOR $30-$40.00

Thank you. I will look into it and give it a shot. I am a little worried that they are designed differently since the new model generation started in 2020.
