Hi,

I'm Sweens and I just registered with FordForums. I was a Ford dealer Service Manager for 11 years up until last September. Now I live the good life! I currently drive a 1998 Explorer Sport but just ordered a 2001 Expedition XLT fully loaded. I'm quite excited! I needed more room for the dog and more power to tow the boat. Take me to the lake! I hope to hear from some of you soon. Any questions for a retired Service Manager ... feel free to forward them.

Welcome to the board Sweens! Those Expeditions are nice and comfy!

As an insider would you happen to know why Ford stopped making Probes? We are quiet upset! :D

Have fun on the lake man!

Hi Tom and Tim

Thanks for the hello's guys. Tom, as far as the probe goes -- it just got too expensive to maintain and the following wasn't there. Mazda had too much control over the pricing and Ford had to pad the price to make themselves some money. Probes either made customers very happy or really ticked off.

Tommy, give it up ! It's gone and most likely will never come back.

Mr. Sween, your right about Ford padding a price. Back in the summer I cracked my wheel hub. Called Ford for a price they told me $208.00. Called Mazda price $67.99.

I hope you guys never need to buy an alternator for your GT's!! When the new style probe came out we had to wait 12 weeks to get one at a cost of over $900!!! And that was Ford's price! Mazda just made it impossible for us to satisfy any Probe customers when it came to service. It was also a bit embarassing when the customer opened the Ford box and pulled out the alternator wrapped in a Mazda bag!

Yea, well I dont have to worry about parts. I have enough PGT parts to service and repair 3 PGTs for years. I kinda have a tendecy to wreck cars... :)

They coulda wrap the parts in Ford papers at least, I mean come on now thats ridiculous. Im sure, everyone knows its a Mazda engine, and thats not the problem, but if you buy from a FORD dealership you wanna get FORD stuff dont ya... I, personally, wouldnt care, but I could see how some people, some die-hard Ford enthusiasts would be upset...
