Now look, I dunno if it is just me, but ever since I have been driving my baby, i have had numerous "near calls". Only yesterday, I nearly had a shitbox commodore wagon sitting on my lap!! He did a u-turn in front of me and missed me by a bee's dick. At least I know my brakes are working well................thank god! Could it be that people are mesmorised by the look of these excellent cars, that they forget to watch the road..........I wonder. It is harvest green, so it shouldnt be hard to see, so what is the problem? Am getting sick of having to abuse people for being absolute dickheads, but have come across a few choice words that I dont think are in the english language and certainly pack a punch. If anyone was to run into me, i think i would be up on an assault charge. People say, "it's only a car", but thats because they dont own the best damn car on the road. That's my gripe for the day..........whadda think the problem is?

The problem is that our licensing system gives a license to anyone who can parallel park and do a three point turn (in whatever number of turns you need to complete the turn). It also has a lot to do with some people who are only worried about themselves, and have no consideration for other road users - in this bundle, I include anyone who doesn't indicate when turning, people who hog the RH lane on a multi-lane road and those who drive around with high beam on day or night!

This is possibly what is going through other people's minds:

"Look! What's that? You gotta be kidding, they actually make them in that colour???!!!" followed by squeal of locked up tyres :1poke:

Actually I saw an XR6 with Ford 18"s and it looked damn good!

I must admit, I have found that my XR8 is a real head turner too. People like checking it out...I always check out other XRs too mind you, but I am mindful of the cars around me. Me thinks you just having some bad luck, mate!

They are a shit hot looking car, no question. I always give a waive or the thumbs up to a fellow XR owner too!!

I've had so many absolute idiots on the road in front of me, ever since I got my L's earlier this year, and now my P's a few weeks ago! I hate people that brake suddenly and early, then roll up 5 car lengths, really slowly, and then leave a car length in front of them! ARGH! I was getting so annoyed of crappy drivers that I decided to become one, and went 190km/h down this hilly part of some road on the way out to Port Noarlunga. The Magna didn't feel very nice that night, and it had been raining! :wnc:

I think its cos most of the population of drivers are a bunch of SmackTards(copyrighted to whomever came up with it, i forget now )

Most of them dont have a damn clue on how to drive or anything for that matter, im surprised they can manage in life..

I think the problem is that it is just too damn easy to get your drivers license - well, at least here in Victoria it is. Also, there are too many people who have forgotten the road rules (or don't give a shit), people who don't concentrate on what they are doing, people who shouldn't physically be driving a car (poor eye site, taking medication or illegal drugs that affect their reaction times, and so on...), and people that don't understand just how dangerous a car can be if you lose control of it...

I agree.

If he really did this, then it falls under what I wrote in my post:
forgotten the road rules (or don't give a shit)... people that don't understand just how dangerous a car can be if you lose control of it...
If he (or anybody else, for that matter) really did do 190km/h in rainy weather, there is obviously a lack of understanding of what the possible consequences of losing control at such a high speed could be - not only destroying the car, but most likely killing themselves, making such a mess dental records may be required for identification, and the very real possibility of making an equal mess of other innocent people who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Don't get me wrong, I do understand the fustration with retread drivers (Anybody else had to try and get a carpark at a shopping center this close to christmas?), and I'm not claiming to be an angel, but I wouldn't drive at speeds so high in conditions like that on public roads...

Sorry, I'll get off my soapbox now...

We seem to have the same sort of people here in QLD. And the reason "Crayman" why you slow down earlier at a set of lights and cruise up to them is incase some dickhead comes flying up behind you and doesn't see your car and then hits the anchors, you can accellerate out of his way, plus when you have a nice car it looks better if you just roll up to a set of lights, there is no reason to be in a hurry everywhere.

Yes it is cursed, just like my previous falcon which was hit by everything from trolleys, roo's running into the side of it and a commodore which wrote it of in the end. By the way if you are driving through the town i live in please take extra care.

Crayman things like that can get u Killed!!!! I see it about once a wk on the news some idiot driving at ridiculos speeds looses control killing him and all his makes. All it takes is for a cat or some animal to jump out ahead of u, causing u to use your brakes and at that speed and in those conditions you can kiss your life goodbye!

I never drive stupid in the rain, only did it once car drifted out and started sliding, lucky i know how to control cars so nothing happend but it still scared me cause i wasnt even goin that fast!!! So since then i drive normal in the rain that is :) cause all it takes in one mistake and its all over!

Had a guy "p"plater slam up my arse at a major intersection, when the cops got there he told them he was changing his cd and that i stoped to quickly. I had 3 witnes's who told the cops that we had all been stationary for about 2 nimutes. I had only had the car for 10 days BA XR6 blueprint, $5600 damage, could of killed the little shit !!!!!!!!
Eny way the problem is that people turn there brains off when they get in a car. try riding a motorbike for 12 years and you see and feel it all.
