The last year of the SHO was 1999. They are no longer offering the SHO as a model. The Yamaha engine is gone.

:(

This would've been the Gen 4 SHO but alas...we'll have to hope they come up with something else.

Now you guys kinda know how I felt when they dropped the T-Bird for a few years....ABANDONED!!

C'mon FoMoCo....have some guts....give us our performance back!!

It is sad isn't it.

Only thing we have now is the soon coming Focus Turbo...and I can't fit in one of those things!

Not true... the Focus Turbo is not the only hope...
The Crown Victoria will soon be available in Marauder form with over 300hp. (It's official.) And there's rumors of that engine also being available in the new Crown Victoria SAP shortly after.

I've heard those rumors....should be quite a car.

Guess I know what I'll be driving in the future!

return of the Bird

Yes, the T-Bird is coming back...kinda. Too bad Ford had to get stupid and make it so unavailable to the people who really love the T-Birds. The regular person can't afford a new Bird, and even if we could, they're not making enough of them to meet demand. Another one of Ford's blunders in my opinion...almost as bad as the return of the Cougar...WHAT A JOKE!! Oh well, I have my old T-Birds. They'll just have to do for now.

Does anybody have the phone number to Neman Marcus or even have a catolog. I'm kidding of course, it's a shame Ford wont put it out in full force.

Yeah, I just saw that Marauder on MotorWeek last weekend. I think it will be available in 2002, but I don't know the price. It looks fierce and with 300 ponies...ooooo...I shudder at the possibilities. Too bad they don't drop that engine in a SVT Ranger.

Dude, what is wrong with Ford and getting rid of cars?

I would like to know something, why was the V-6 in the SHO a Yamaha motor? Also, I heard they have exceptional performance, but with 100,000+ mile motors, they tend to blow their heads, or something else goes majorly wrong with the engine. I think that Ford should take the 3.4L V-8 or whatever size it is and throw it out the window. The 4.6L should have been opted as a base engine for this car, is there anyone that agrees with me. I mean, don't get me wrong, the 99 SHO was an AWESOME CAR. But is the 3.4L really a good performance motor? Do the parts for this car cost an arm and a leg? I have a 4.0L V-6 OHV 94 Explorer and I can blow the doors off of a 5.0L Explorer Limited AWD. My friend down here in FL owns an accessories shop and he said that his 97 Explorer 5.0 wouldn't go ANYWHERE until he put an intake and less restrictive exhaust on it like I did to mine. Well, my advice is that once you notice something majorly going wrong with the older SHO's sell them, because they are a pain in the butt to have fixed.

lets not forget about the contour SVT, i don't know how they compare to the SHO but it is an alturnative. and why did the SHO use a yamaha engine? i would rather see Ford use their own engines in thier vehicles.

That's what I am saying man, dead on, put your own engines in the cars. Use the engines from the Contour SVT if you want. Trust me, with a Ford motor, and a decent size motor, ie: 3.8 or 4.0, you will sell more cars. The SHO motor now is a piece. They do not last long at all, I have seen many a sad SHO owner because their heads went out at 112,000 miles.

Holden seems to offer thier 300hp LS1 V-8 in MANY of thier vehicles... They have SEVERAL super sport models. If only Ford would do the same, and put thier 32v 4.6 or 5.4 in the top range of many of thier vehicles!;-)

More whining & sniveling....

Yep....Ford always seems to pass on the really cool "Hot Rod" concepts or SVO projects they build. Take the T-Bird they did back a few years ago.....supercharged 5.4. Would have been a SWEET car. They built a couple of them, drove them around Detroit, and dismantled them and destroyed them. Or the SVO project "Super Stallion" Mustang a couple years ago. C'mon Ford....they don't necessarily have to be this extreme, but throw us a decent bone to chew on! I'm tired of the Hot Rod wannabe cars like the SVT Contour and such. Escort GT??!! Remember those??!! What a joke! Build us a real car that we can afford, like we all know you can!! Mopar can build 'em! Shoot, Chevy even made a pretty mean Impala a couple years ago! Oh well....I'll get off my soap box now and go play with my (affordable muscle) T-birds.....

Hey man, is that Mustang the one with the 500 c.i. V-8 with like over 1000 HP? I saw that one, the exhaust pipes on that thing were square that's how big they were! I would kill for that car, lol.
