Hey all my parents have an EL falcon I6 seems to take a while to start it! It click over but takes 2-3 longer to start sometimes. Its not a hot cold thing, as sometimes is does uit while cold as well.

The leads are fine, changed not long ago. Timing was checked under 10,000kms ago, fuel filter, air filter changed.

Whats the problem? The service light came on today, so would a good service resolve this isssue?

Also what oil is recommended for the I6? what grade?

thanks

Try turning on the key but not cranking for a few seconds, if this works then the fuel system is loosing pressure when the motor is not running. I believe there is a valve that holds pressure in the return line , but I don't know where it is.
My mates falcon is doing the same thing, but by waiting a few seconds with the key on he has no more starting problems. I'm sure there is someone out there who could be more specific than me
