im still in shock and not quite sure if im totally convinced yet, but...i used to get right at 10-10 1/2 mph (3.73's 24# inj, 75mm air meter)
i was messin with my car and read my tps voltage to be at 1.68! "well hell, thats not right" so i had to slot it out to get enought adjustment out of it, but finally got it set at .978 at idle. so my normall fill up time is around 100 miles. so at 96 miles i pull into the gas station and start pumpin...6.7 gal? "oh, ok?" so that was like 14.25mpg
so next i come around to 138 miles on the speedo and pull in for gas...8.8 gal? that put it to like 16.5 mpg?
can this happen just from settin your tps? everyone might want to check theirs!

I didn't realize the TPS alone could make that much of a difference
in gas mileage..

I probably average around 16 MPG in my 1989 Mustang LX, and
thats with many engine mods, equal length headers, off road
h-pipe, 2 chamber flows, and 3.73 geared detroit locker rear..

i think the reason my car started out with such low mpg is because i have 24# inj with a stock fuel presure setting. i believe the fuel presure should be turned down a bit. the next time i have my manifold off i will install my afpr. my car has 41-42 #'s at wot. i think this may be excessive with the realatively stock motor and the larger injectors. maybe finding out the stock setting for a cobra would help?

I believe that 38 pounds is stock.. In my 1989 5.0 we are running 24lb
injectors, 38 pounds of fuel pressure, and getting around 318 RWHP...
Car seems to run better once the fuel pressure was lowered to 36 - 38
pounds. Timing is set at 14 degrees

Hey There Gearhead, how you doing? Looks like a real nice board here, with forums
for both the crown vic PI's and fox body mustangs that I'm currently involved with..

Good to see you here as a member..
