we know what you want for your next car. so now tell us how you ended up with the car you drive now. my daily driver is an 82 f100 with the 300 six. a friend of mine wanted to get rid of it because he thought the motor was junk and didnt want to spend the money on it. ive had it for a year now and it still has the 300 six in it running strong. i have a rebuilt 302 that i plan on putting in it. i also have a 92 crown vic that i bought with a siezed 4.6 that i'm rebuilding for my wife.

I had an 89 Probe GL first and I just fell in love with 2nd gen PGTs. So I was looking for one for a couple of months and when I bought the 94 PGT the guy had another buyer coming at the same time so I ended up racing on the freeway calling the guy on my cell asking if the other buyer got there yet every 2 minutes. So we get there I give him the cash and we sign all the papers within like 10 minutes ( I already saw the car twice before that) when the other buyer gets there, he didnt wanna believe I bought it... I had to show him the title. :wink2:
Than I saw the 93 PGT advertised on ProbeTalk, I wasnt looking for another car I already had two but the next day it was mine anyway. :D Too bad I totaled it in Februaury, now Im down to 2 cars again... the 94PGT thats still under construction for a couple more weeks, and the Maxima, my daily driver.

Well, like Tommy I had a 89GL. I traded it off in the fall of 94 for a 95 Cherokee. Well after a year and a half I realized I bought a piece of $&!+. I had always liked the 2gen PGT . My frist one "89GL" was the best car I'd ever owned. No problems till 120,000 mi.:( So in the summer of 99 I started looking for a PGT. I liked the 99 MustangGT but didn't want another car payment and high insurance. Same went with the Cougar, except the high insurance part. The Cougar and the Probe has about the same hp and tourqe, with the Cougar being a little higher. But I didn't want payments. So I went out to look for the cheapest PGT I could find. I did find one, a 94 fully loaded "except for leather" :( for $5,000. I bought it, it had 92,000 mi on it. But that's ok it's going to have a new engine put in before the Fall. Last but not least got rid of that peice of $%!+ Chryslar.:). Also no car payment. :wink2:

I have a 91 escort gt, I wanted something practical that could haul a nice amount of stuff for its size, had a good engine, good gas mileage and was fun to drive. I started comparing different models, and it came down to an escort or civic. The Escort was MUCH safer in the model years I was looking at, had a free wheeling engine(don't have to worry about timing belt destroying my car, that was important to me since I would be buying a high mileage car), cost less, looked better, cheaper insurance, and just as or more reliable, and was faster than all but the crx si. Oh yeah, and it was a Ford, so the choice was clear.

I keep hearing the people on ford trucks.com say that the straight six is one of the most reliable engines.

Well I have always liked Big cars, and loved the 94-96 LT1 powered Chevy Caprice police cars. So I got one after years of drooling over them. Fast, decent handling, safe, and did I say Fast?
Here is a pic of my 91 caprice that wife was in, in a a 65 mph head on with a BRONCO II.

She is ok now. That happened back in 97. She broke here right leg(femur) which now has a metal rod from hip to knee, collar bone and was in therapy for post tramatic syndrome for over a year and still has flashbacks from time to time, recently they have been flashbacks where she hears it. We live in TN. and on a rural country road she came over a small hill and a young UNDER INSURED guy in a Bronco II sleeping behind the wheel in her lane.
Wife had seat belt on, and still ended wedged between the seat and steering wheel, facing the drives door.
NOTE: Make it your goal this week to raise your uninsured coverages to 500k or more, I was running just 100k and it was CHEAP, dollars a month to up the coverage to 500k. DO IT FOLKS!!!! TRUST ME!!! If we had better coverage we would be retired right now. The guy had jsut ALABAMA state min. coverage of 25k!! We came out ok in the settlement with our uninsured coverage but should have been waaaaay more.

When it first happened and it was clear she was physically going to be ok I was like, OK, no big deal this, will be fine in a month. NOOOOOOOOOOOO, she was off work for 3 months, and it disrupted the family for YEARS!!!!!!

A little Neon was following to close and hit her in the rear, so hard it bent the axle.

I noticed the rear end damage and wondered what had happened. So the family is ok now? Sounds as though it was tough for a while!

I also noticed that you mention the seat belt! I once read where this safety feature was not well like in America. Is this still the case? In Austalia it is illegal not to wear one, and it does make airbag development a little cheaper!
