I purchased a 1977 F-100 a year ago. I recently decided to change spark plugs only to find out that the plugs that the local service center called for don't fit. they used plugs that fits a 1973 ford 302. How do I find out what my truck originally came with from the factory ? I tried a vin search but carfax requires 17 characters prior to 1981. Any suggestions ?

Try taking the vin # to your local Ford Dealer and see if they would decode it, or post it here and see if anyone here can do it.
