QUOTE FROM Conrod
Posted on another forum (ten tenths) is discussion that there is a HRT car over in the USA currently being run on a test rig. Neatly avoids any test bans in Australia, and must deliver a truck load of interesting data.

As far as I can tell it isn't against the rules, but surely creates a level of madness in the sport that should be looked at.

Do we really want a championship where to be competitive you need to be able to ship/fly a car overseas, or set up your own rig in Australia... I guess as the competition becomes closer, teams have to expolit what ever opportunity they can find, but how long can the sport in Australia afford this kind of expense ?

if its true, thats a pretty dodgey act. But good on them for thinking of it, I bet you wouldn't see Ford thinking of that.

Still though, what is stopping HRT or FPV from testing there engines in other shells around th eworld, not much Id bet.

But yeah I dont agree with it.

Typical slippery buggers.... They'll go to any lengths to worm their way around the rules.

Prodrive have a rig over in England but they said they wouldn't be using it for FPR when they were asked last year.

It's up to the powers that be to stamp it out, if that's what TEGA and the other teams want.

HRT aren't breaking the rules, they are just spending their money in the right places

Is there any truth in the rumour that HRT have specially constructed a concrete barrier to practice snozz's exits during the 2004 season?

This is nothing new. HRT have been doing this for years.

Don't know about the US, but HRT have sent cars to the UK when they were under TWR ownership for testing/development work, old news.

I dont see how testing in a wind tunnel can help. They arent allowed to make any changes to wings or bodywork. Unless it just helps with creating downforce to test suspension loads. But then you cant test cornering and things like that.

Dont FPR already test the engines at Prodrive? in UK
Testing the engine and then testing the engine with the car are two different things.

There is nothing wrong with dyno'ing them, but once you have it fully prepared its vital data.

let em be i say, only gotta look at how they performed last year to know they can waste all the $$$$ the want n still only be like the rest of the teams at the end of the year.runners up to ambrose..:ROFLMFAO:

if they wanna do tests n go around the rules let em,they should be working on ways how to perform better on the tracks they do poorly on..

There has been talk about test rigs ever since unlimited testing was abolished. Don't know if any teams are using them overseas anywhere. Don't most of the top teams have a Shock Absorber rig and a fulltime Engineer just building and developing Shock Absorbers and testing them on a rig?

Seems this, and the HRT are using traction control rumor comes up periodically, everyone gets up in arms about it, and nothing in the way of evidence is ever provided.

Maybe if there is actually evidence one day, I'll actually believe it

I'd like to present to the court, DonutKing's signature, into evidence.
