2000 grand marquis ls with handling package, magnaflow mufflers, dual exhaust, 3.55 rear axle
I bought a 2002 grand marquis LSE with an engine noise. It seemed like it was coming from the front of the engine so I decided to replace the timing chain and tensioners and guides. It turns out they were bad, but after I got it back together it is still making the noise so there is another problem. Is it even possible to jack up the engine enough to get the oil pan off so I can check for some loose rod bearings. I know it was a different time, but I once took the oil pan off a 1972 ford pickup that developed a knock and replaced the rod bearings and main bearings and then drove it 3 more years. Is there any chance at all that this can be done to a 4.6 v8?
