Decided that I don't want to buy my own place yet, so I'm going to stay at home for a while longer. And as the AUII was starting to cost me money for repairs, I decided to upgrade.

My first choice was the new 2.3L 4-cyl Escape, at $29,990. So I went down to my local dealer and crawled in, out, over and under an Escape for more than ten minutes. The dealership didn't look particularly busy, but still not one salesperson talked to me in all that time. So I left, and headed to the next closest dealer, about 20 mins away.

But on the way I stopped at a Nissan dealer to check out the X-Trail. Salesman was knowledgable, friendly and not pushy in any way. Had my colour in stock, offered $13k for the AUII (Ford dealer had offered $12.5k a few months ago) and I got $1,800 off the driveaway price. I pick it up this week.

It's a shame, I can't speak highly enough of the service guys at Wayne Phillis Ford in Adelaide, but obviously the sales people aren't in the same league.
