what bits and pieces would you have to do to a I6 EF to keep it running with 8's that dsont involve supercharging or turbo's ... ie JMM and stuff like that, or even say a list of things to do ... other than obvious ie CAM,ZORST,CHIP and so forth ..

Can do lots of things...
Weight reduction, increase in compression, Nos, diff ratio...

What sort of $$ you planning on spending?

i have a mate who has a ebxr6 who has dropped a cam and a chip and exhaust on it, and that gave it a fair bit of go. Just needs a good head porting and it'll go even better. It pulls 130 rwkw atm

Id get stractors - zorst - air intake sorted wiv JMM DEV 4 and Timing gear

all up ur looking probably $2000
U WON'T PASS THEM BUT U WILL KEEP UP
P.S. I got a auto which helps things in a straight line if thats ur thing

get the dev kit that has like 170rwkw?

Spaniard has an EF XR6 cam for sale ATM, in the Marketplace for about $60.
That would be a good start.

At the drag meets down in VIC, its quite common to see 5 speed I6's whipping V8 XR's (some of them manual).

My opinion. With a 5 speed, throw in a good set of diff gears 3.23-4.11 (depending on what you want), a 2.5" exhaust, free up the air intake a little. This should scare quite a few of the 8's you see on the road.
After this, choose a cam, there are quite a few to choose from now. This, along with head work & tuning should the the 6 kicking butt.

I agree wiv XCHASR - 3.45 to 3.9 diff with Locker yum yum
(Auto to stretch out the gears - Auto for straight line work is my pref.)
