Holey Moley!! What a movie!!! I can say with all honesty that this trilogy is without a doubt, THE most enjoyable movie experience I have had at the cinema (PornBus Cinema™ and Activities™ excluded).
The final movie of the trilogy was relentless in it's detail, story, and magnificence. The special effects, the scenery, and the scale of this epic are simply without peer - no other movie I have seen has come close to this series in the sheer depth of effects and the seamless integration with the narrative. What tops it all off is that all of that is overlayed onto one of the best stories ever written, and consequently, they compliment each other even more. There are other movies with great special effects, but the movie experience is diluted by shite plots and ho-hum characters. Not so this one!
They strayed a little from the book in places, but by hell, that is more than made up for by the rest of the effort! I'm still gobsmacked, and like the other two movies in the series, I think I'll need to go see it again to appreciate it fully.
It's a rare thing to have a trilogy in which each movie outdoes the preceeding one... just look at The Matrix and Terminator series... there's two instances of the last episode being a total WOFTAM!
Now to wait for technology to catch up and give me a Total Immersion Experience™ based on these movies... escapism at it's finest! :wnc:
If you're not a fan and you haven't seen them, then I'd recommend to. If you have seen them and aren't convinced, then don't waste space in this thread telling us about it! Frankly if you don't agree with me, I DGAF! Merry Xmas! :flip:
