Holey Moley!! What a movie!!! I can say with all honesty that this trilogy is without a doubt, THE most enjoyable movie experience I have had at the cinema (PornBus Cinema™ and Activities™ excluded).

The final movie of the trilogy was relentless in it's detail, story, and magnificence. The special effects, the scenery, and the scale of this epic are simply without peer - no other movie I have seen has come close to this series in the sheer depth of effects and the seamless integration with the narrative. What tops it all off is that all of that is overlayed onto one of the best stories ever written, and consequently, they compliment each other even more. There are other movies with great special effects, but the movie experience is diluted by shite plots and ho-hum characters. Not so this one!

They strayed a little from the book in places, but by hell, that is more than made up for by the rest of the effort! I'm still gobsmacked, and like the other two movies in the series, I think I'll need to go see it again to appreciate it fully.

It's a rare thing to have a trilogy in which each movie outdoes the preceeding one... just look at The Matrix and Terminator series... there's two instances of the last episode being a total WOFTAM!

Now to wait for technology to catch up and give me a Total Immersion Experience™ based on these movies... escapism at it's finest! :wnc:

If you're not a fan and you haven't seen them, then I'd recommend to. If you have seen them and aren't convinced, then don't waste space in this thread telling us about it! Frankly if you don't agree with me, I DGAF! Merry Xmas! :flip:

Was a truly great experiance watching this movie, i totally agree with Mr Sparkles whole post. The little bits that they left out of the movie that where in the book didn't have any real affect on the story line of the movie and would have increased the length of them to the absolute rediculos.
I suppose there was more of it in the last movie but i did tend to notice the animation scene's more than the other two.
One of the greatest stories ever written has become one of the greates stories ever to grace the big screen.
Hopefully they get an make the Hobbit into a movie soon.....

Never read the books

Have seen the first 2, personally i thought the 1st movie was quite slow and boring, the second movie was a bit better as it seemed to focus on a larger scale of the adventure where the first set up the characters
Will go see the 3rd just to know what happened in the end... can someone PM me and tell me.. i still have nfi what happens !

Cheers

Chris

Yeah, great movie! Saw it on its release night.

Liv Tyler could have been the ring bearer for all I cared, as long as she was in it, phwoar! :wnc:

Only two complaints: my knees and my freekin arse... so damn sore for the massive long time sitting in one place after standing in line for so long beforehand!

Well done to those that made it, I haven't read the books so I had no idea what was going to happen! The undead/ghost people were mad, when they rode across the water into the harbour, favorite scene ever!

Cheers... Tim!

Saw it Saturday Night!
Loved it

Own both the 5 disc collectors editions on DVD. Apparently, RotK was going to be 4 hours and 20 minutes long before they had to cut it by about an hour for the cinema. So expect a very extended version come next november!!

ask anyway dave_au, someone will answer.
Just put spoiler infront of it and a few lines between

I think because the wounds he got from being stabbed by the ring wraiths would have eventually killed him (remember him saying to sam? at the end that "its 4 years to the day and my wounds still hurt"). Thats why Gandalf took him to the undying lands, and also because he was a ring bearer. In the books (apparently, I havent read them), "Gimli, Legolas and Sam also travel across the sea to the undying lands, or so the legend goes".

i just saw ALL THREE MOVIES last night and it was the bestest. the third one was good, long but good. I don't regret sitting in the same seat for 10hrs straight. It was great. I love the LOTR triology, my kind of films. The whole cast and crewdid a fantastic job. Much prefer the extended editions. At times i could feel a lump in the throat....Liv Tyler looked sensational as always and yep shelob scared the crap out of me too..

only gripe i had was the group of 14 or 15 year old stupid b!itches down the front talking so loud that we could hear them up the back and also taking pictures. So tempted to throw my thermos at them but its a good thermosa nd i don't want to lose it...
