my xd 302 on dual fuel is losing water.. only started since i drove ti from newcastle to brissy and back.. my thermostat was ****ed and cracked the radiator so i've replaced those... i dont think its the head gasket.. altho it maybe alittle..

what are some signs to check for for different things??

Well if it started to happen after overheating on that run then you either have done head/gasket damage or have a leak in a hose or connection from where you've removed the raidiator.

Only safe bet is to get the system pressure tested by a radiator specialist, they can also do a chemical check for dissolved gases in the radiator water which would indicate leaking head gasket.

Make sure the oil hasn't got any milkiness to it which would indicate an obvious head/head gasket problem.

Be sure to check out your LPG converter as they corrode quikly if the corrosion inhibitor is not kept up to a safe level.

I had phantom coolant loss for about six months, turns out my surge tank had a crack around its seam in the front right corner. Only found it on a 40 degree day after a thrash...whats that smell, whats that green stufff, i'm sure it not meant to come out of THERE!!! hehehe...found the leak though...

what do you mean by this??
what do i check for? etc?? i was playing with it today switched it to gas and it died tried to start it and it wouldn't so i pressed the button on the converter (the one that releases more gas into the carby etc) and water came of the converter is this a bad sign??

can you reply via pm as i'm going overseas for a month and prolly might lose this thread..

Had the same thing happen to me in a F100 with 302 and the plate in the convertor had corroded thru, sent you a pm bud.
