By front bar I mean front bumper.
I'm still not entirely sure about it though, I was told by someone on the Mazda 3 forums that is the case - something about the shape of the bottom part of the grill where it meets the bumper not matching up.
There are some aftermarket body kits around, but they're shockers IMO
My girlfriend bought the hatch, max sport with - winning blue, tint, cruise control. the only thing she didnt like about it was the grill, so the dealer said they could fit the sp23 grill onto the max sport..it wasnt till after delivery at the 1st service they told her that it wouldnt fit...if she had known that in the 1st place she probably would have got the sp23.
But 4 grand is alot to pay for a better looking grill!
Even though she would have got the 2.3litre and all the other goodies on the SP23. Still, I guess she would have had the choice if she knew about the grill and that's the point of it.
Have you thought about colour coding the standard grill?
yeah looked at colour coding it....not really sure if that would look any good....starting to get over it now..its such a good car, i wish ford australia would learn some quality control from mazda
Yep have to agree they are a fantastic little car, excellent quality for a sub 30K vehicle. but you have to remember the 3 is for the world market so they have a lot more dollars to play with on developing and quality ect.., than Ford Australia does with the Falcon
We're going to colour code the top part of the grill on the Neo, so basically it will look like a Max Sport grill. But yeah, I think colour coding the whole thing might look a bit weird
I thought there was a sports grill option for all non SP 3's, my wife and I have just ordered a Red SP23 Hatch with the chrome wing mirros, cruise, rear garnish, and mats. Can't wait to get it.
The optional sports grill looks the same as the Maxx/Maxx Sport grill. ie- Neo grill with colour coded top
Congrats on the purchase btw. I've heard there is a long wait for SP23's at the moment, when is your delivery date?
Make sure your cruise control is checked, there was a recall on them just recently, I'm sure yours won't be affected if it's a later build though
We picked it up last night, they actual had what we wanted in stock, other wise it was a 2 - 3 month wait. The cruise will be put on in about 6 weeks, we are pretty much the first on the list to get the new module, they are in testing stages at the moment.
These are a great car, I will have photos very soon.
Good to hear they had what you wanted in stock, would have been an long wait. You enjoying the car so far? They are a fun car to drive through the twisty stuff eh..!
Look forward to seeing the pics
here's my wife's Neo btw-
Wish we could have stretched the budget to an SP23, but considering we originally went to the dealer to buy a runout model 323, i think we stretched it too far already..
Yep certainly have, It really flies....... Great handling, anf fantastic on fuel around town. Just clocket 1570km's and with optimax in my last 2 tanks got 550k's using 47 litres. 8.54L/100k's. Just awsome.

I have a 2001 Mazda Tribute ES V6 4WD. I am looking at upping the power a bit, and was wondering what the best bang for the buck upgrades I could do to the engine were. An aftermarket throttle body, intake, exhaust, and remapping come to mind. But what else could I do to get some more power?
I have a 2001 Mazda Tribute ES 4WD V6. I am looking at doing a suspension lift. I was thinking about maybe a 6 inch lift, 8 at the most. What do I need to do a suspension lift?
