Hi all. I apologize ahead of time for the lengthy post but want to explain everything properly as best I can.
I have a 2010 Mercury Mariner Premier V6 that I cannot get to start or at this point even show it has power to anything other than my airbag. Two days ago my wide and I had to replace my driver side wheel hub assembly (knuckle) due to a bad wheel bearing. While doing this (and with the key accidentally left in the on position) a clicking sound could be heard coming from the car under the hood. We quickly turned the key to the off position and continued the repair. After finishing the repair I got inside the car to try and test drive it. The anti-theft system was apparently triggered at some point and could only get clicking sounds when trying to turn it over. And the cluster light was blinking that signifies the alarm is active (car with lock on it). I tried different methods to try and deactivate it including disconnecting the (fully charged) battery for a while but no success. It was late so I decided to deal with it today and now to only thing it will do is light up the airbag light on the cluster panel with the key turned in the start position. It will not even allow me to shift out of park now with the shifter. ANY help would be appreciated as this is our only vehicle.

Hey, John!
Did you ever happen to resolve this issue? If so,do you mind me asking how? I have the EXACT SAME CAR & PROBLEM... Mine occured as the result of a insignificant fender bender. As minor as the accident was the car is obviously not able to be driven because of the issue you described. It will not start, will not turn the key for just battery options, is in security alarm activated mode and will not move out of drive for anything.
Thank you in advance for any information you can provide
