I am changing my rear brake pads @ 110,000 miles.
From what I have discovered on the internet, it appears that the right side caliper is wound back counter-clockwise (leftward) and the left side, clockwise.
Is this correct?
Completed the job last Friday. Wind back is indeed towards the rear of the car (left side clockwise, right, counterclockwise).
Was able to do the right side with the cheap cube tool, but it took a lot of muscle to push in while turning.
The left side required the loaner tool from the auto parts store since I could not push in hard enough to get the piston to wind back.
Buy one of the kits that has BOTH the clockwise and counterclockwise tool. I tried all of the major auto parts stores and they only have the clockwise tool to loan out.
The kit can be bought for less than $30 on some websites.
