G'day all.

I seem to have developed a fairly loud and embarrasing squeak! Initially I thought it might have been a shot wheel bearing, but it seems to be something to do with the clutch. Depressing the clutch pedal stops the noise, even just resting my foot on the pedal lightly makes the noise stop. The clutch still feels the same as always, and it's operation seems not to have changed.

Any ideas guys?

I have had heaps of little gremlins with my clutch and they are still ongoing. Normally when the noise disappears with the clutch in it's the input shaft bearing but if goes away with it only slightly depressed then wouldn't be enough to stop the shaft spinning. I know a common problem is the spring clips on the fork stretch and become loose and the pivot and fork also wear out could be rattling around causing your squeek.

Check the cover that go's over the fork.They can rattle heaps.Noises are hard to explain??

I had the same problem on my EFII XR6. When you lift the clutch pedal the noise disappears. I replaced the thrust bearing and all was fine.

Well, dropped in to the local clutch/brake place and had a chat. I described the problem to them, and they reckoned the thrust bearing too. I also tried putting my foot behind the clutch pedal and lifting it slightly, and that too seemed to stop the squealing. Strange.

The bad news is that even for a minor look at things, it's going to be a couple of hundred bucks just for the time involved So I'm inclined to leave it as is until the clutch lunches itself fully, and then replace it all.

Anyone had experience with RPM1195 or 1195 Heavy Duty clutches? Or Centerforce? I'm thinking the 1195 Heavy Duty might be the go eventually...

I was lucky. Still had used car warranty on mine so the repair didn't cost me a cent.

Funny you should say that. About 5000km after I got mine, they replaced the clutch under warranty because of oil droplets getting into the clutch plate! Gotta love warranty! I got them to replace a few other things and do a bit of this and that, and it totaled up to $2000 worth of work and parts, of which I paid $0

Not any more though.. warranty gone.. :~(
